obama admin worse on whistleblowers than previous puppet admin

from allgov: The Obama administration is being accused of getting away with crackdowns on government whistleblowers that President George W. Bush would have been publicly admonished for. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has allegedly gone after an ICE agent who told the media in March about new quotas for immigration arrests. In another example, the Department of Defense is restricting media access to military officers following General Stanley McChrystal’s comments to Rolling Stone magazine, and the Pentagon has gone after an Army intelligence officer who leaked a controversial video of a U.S. air strike in Iraq. “Some of these prosecutions wouldn’t have happened when [George W.] Bush was president, because there would have been a more partisan backlash,” Stephen Kohn, executive director of the National Whistleblowers Center, told The Washington Post. “The problem when you have a Democratic president—it’s not like Obama is signing the indictment—but it mutes the criticism.”

wooden ship from 1700s found at wtc ground zero

from skynews: Archaeologists working at the World Trade Centre site in New York have found the remains of a wooden ship apparently buried there more than 200 years ago.

The remains of the 30ft length of a wood-hulled vessel were found when workers excavating the site, where a new World Trade Centre is being built, hit a row of wood timbers, The New York Times reported.

"They were so perfectly contoured that they were clearly part of a ship," said archaeologist A. Michael Pappalardo. The archaeologists have been working on the site - scene of the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001 - to document historical material uncovered during construction. They estimated that the vessel could date from the mid to late 1700s.

a hidden world, growing beyond control

from washington post: “Top Secret America” is a project nearly two years in the making that describes the huge national security buildup in the United States after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

When it comes to national security, all too often no expense is spared and few questions are asked – with the result an enterprise so massive that nobody in government has a full understanding of it. It is, as Dana Priest and William M. Arkin have found, ubiquitous, often inefficient and mostly invisible to the people it is meant to protect and who fund it.

ground zero: science fiction & spiritual poverty

please donate to zero point radio & ground zero media!
from clyde lewis: In my history as a Talk show host I have interviewed scores of individuals who are authors in the sphere of Science Fiction. I have related my views on the idea that many people see science fiction as a great way to escape. I see it as an clandestine way to supplant religious thought with a new spirituality. It is a spirituality that has been highly favored by the cryptocracy and a way to acclimate society to the desired futures proposed by the elite. Now I am not saying that all science fiction has some sort of nefarious purpose, but what I am saying is that selected tales that have been embraced by the masses may very well become the new religious movements of the future if not in the present.

most of US want afghanistan pullout deadline; congress says no

from allgov: A strong majority of Americans believe the war in Afghanistan is going badly and want Washington to establish a timetable for bringing home U.S forces. But despite negative opinions about the war among voters, Congress continues to oppose setting any limits on when the U.S. should pull out of the conflict.

A new CBS News poll found 62% of Americans are unhappy about the war, up from 49% in May. Only 23% say they are willing to have troops remain in Afghanistan for one or two more years, and 54% think leaders should start a countdown for withdrawing U.S. soldiers. Forty-four percent disapprove of President Barack Obama’s handling of the war, while 43% approve it.

Ganzer was among 14 people convicted in the case, while four were acquitted. In addition to jail time, Ganzer was fined euro65,000 ($82,000).

missing iranian nuclear scientist turns up at pak embassy in US

from guardian: An Iranian nuclear scientist who was missing for over a year amid claims that he had been abducted by the CIA surfaced today at the Pakistani embassy in Washington, apparently asking to be returned home.

Iran accused Saudi Arabia of handing over Shahram Amiri to the US after he disappeared during a pilgrimage a year ago. A man purporting to be Amiri subsequently appeared in a series of internet videos, some saying he was hiding from US agents.

Today Amiri was quoted by Iranian official media as claiming that the US government had intended to return him to Iran to cover up his kidnapping in Saudi Arabia.

"Following the release of my interview in the internet which brought disgrace to the US government for this abduction, they wanted to send me back quietly to Iran by another country's airline," he told state radio from the Iranian interests office in Washington. "Doing so, they wanted to deny the main story and cover up this abduction. However, they finally failed."

roman polanski set free after swiss reject US extradition request

flashback: interview w/ peter levenda on polanski
from ap: The Swiss government declared renowned film director Roman Polanski a free man on Monday after rejecting a U.S. request to extradite him on a charge of having sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old girl.

The Swiss mostly blamed U.S. authorities for failing to provide confidential testimony about Polanski's sentencing procedure in 1977-1978.

The stunning decision could end the United States' three-decade pursuit of Polanski, unless he travels to another country that would be willing to apprehend him and weigh sending him to Los Angeles. France, where he has spent much of his time, does not extradite its own citizens, and the public scrutiny over Switzerland's deliberations may dissuade other nations from making such a spectacular arrest.

The Swiss government said it had sought confidential testimony given on Jan. 26 by Roger Gunson, the Los Angeles attorney in charge of the original prosecution against Polanski. Washington rejected the request. "Mr. Polanski can now move freely. Since 12:30 today he's a free man," Justice Minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf declared.

ground zero: systemic failure a heartbeat away

thanks to zero point radio for new ground zero archives!
from clyde lewis: When I am not doing radio I have been doing work as an internet marketing consultant providing people with front page listings on Google. It is great job when the money comes and a waste of a day when nothing comes in. Lately I have been doing my business calls in Florida and Georgia.

Most of the areas I have been calling are far from the effects of the oil spill. When I start calling people that live closer to the Gulf coast the more I get disconnected phone numbers or answering services that tell me that the property owners have left the country for Europe. In one instance I was forced to find business in the Ukraine and sold search engine placement there.

I thought it was just a fluke, but anymore I am wondering if people have gotten the message and are “bugging out” of the Gulf States because of the fears of what might happen to them and their families.

broadcast tv viewership hits record low

from washington times: Americans avoided television in historic levels over the past week. CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox together had the smallest number of prime-time viewers last week in two decades of record-keeping, the Nielsen Co. said. Given the dominance of the big broadcasters before then, you'd probably have to go back to the early days of television to find such a collective shrug. The first week of July tends to be among the slowest weeks of the year in television, anyway, with families more engaged in barbecues and fireworks. The problem was magnified this year because July Fourth came on Sunday, largely knocking out one of a typical week's biggest viewing nights.

7/7 london bombings: 5 years on

from emtyhell: Yesterday, the Queen visited ground zero and addressed the UN for the first time since 1957. Is it possible for a reigning monarch to commit treason? Coz some would argue that just by associating with the globalist crooks, she is. Today, I guess she's returning to the UK to hold another garden party or something like she did last year on 7/7.

Considering the media hype surrounding the fifth anniversary of 9/11, the fifth anniversary of 7/7 doesn't seem to have attracted much attention... I guess the reason they are not giving it much attention is because they don't want people to look into it. It is after all one of the the most suspicious terror attacks in recent history.

expect 400k government layoffs at state, local level

from usatoday: Here's another headwind for a sputtering job market: State and local governments plan many more layoffs to close wide budget gaps. Up to 400,000 workers could lose jobs in the next year as states, counties and cities grapple with lower revenue and less federal funding, says Mark Zandi, chief economist for Moody's Economy.com. The development could slow an already lackluster recovery. Friday, the Labor Department said employers cut 125,000 jobs, mostly because 225,000 temporary U.S. Census workers completed their stints. The private sector added 83,000 jobs, fewer then expected, as the jobless rate fell to 9.5% from 9.7%...

portland copwatch releases analysis

from kgw: Police watchdog group Portland Copwatch has released its annual review of the annual report of the Portland City Auditor's Independent Police Review Division. Copwatch's Dan Handelman called the review division report "a mixed bag of useful and buried information."

"There is less of an implication that the drop in complaints, use of force complaints, and officer involved shootings from 2007 to 2009 were the result of IPR's work," Handelman wrote in a summary. "However, the IPR still chose to highlight these trends in their Executive Summary pamphlet, while ignoring, for instance, that only one of 27 cases investigated by the Internal Affairs Division (IAD) was completed by the Bureau within the 5-month guideline."

Handelman added that Portland Copwatch "continues to welcome the IPR's more timely release of their annual report, and applauds the efforts to make the report more readable and objective." Portland Copwatch describes itself as "a grassroots group promoting police accountability through citizen action."

ground zero: one nation under guard

thanks to zero point radio for new ground zero archives!
from clyde lewis: Another 4th of July is upon us and while I have fond memories of the day, sadly it's becoming more like Christmas. The commercialism & politics of the day seem to be far more important than what the day is set out to celebrate. It gets twisted to becoming a political holiday and much like Christmas it does not escape the debate over whether or not the United States is a country ordained by the Judeo-Christian God and founded on Christian scriptures & dogmas.

from guardian: You might think that by know you've read more than enough online exegesis of Lady Gaga's videos but you haven't even scratched the surface until you've read the work of The Vigilant Citizen. This anonymous Canadian blogger explained last year's Paparazzi video with reference to the CIA's MK-ULTRA mind-control programme, Fritz Lang's Metropolis, the Eye of Horus and the goat-god Baphomet, concluding that Gaga was indubitably an "Illuminati puppet". Bad Romance apparently "offers a chilling description of a music industry ruled by the elite". In Alejandro, she "flashes in her fans' faces the symbols of their own oppression".
