1.8 Million Dead People Currently Registered To Vote

1.8 Million Dead People Currently Registered To Votefrom ibtimes.com: According to statistics released by the Pew Center of the States, at least 1.8 million dead people are currently registered to vote. Additionally, 24 million voter registrations have some serious errors. While there is little suspicion of voter fraud, many people have pointed out the serious consequences of using such a flawed system.

One of the biggest problems with voter registration is that Americans are constantly moving across state lines. When they move, they are supposed to alert local election offices so that their previous states can be notified. But very few actually do and as a result, almost 3 million people in the U.S. are registered to vote in more than one state.

Pew has made several suggestions that could mend the current system. One way to improve voter registration would be to implement the system electronically. The voter databases could then be cross-checked against other government databases, such as motor vehicle registries or death records from the Social Security Administration.

Some states are also joining an experimental program that will allow them to share voter information between databases to reduce duplicates. The digital program could ultimately allow for easier voter registration and a much more streamlined registry - an imperative step considering that 52 million eligible voters are not registered to vote in the upcoming presidential elections at the end of this year.

'kids for cash' judge only gets 28yr jail sentence

'kids for cash' judge only gets 28yr jail sentencefrom raw replay: A former Pennsylvania judge who rendered guilty verdicts in exchange for over $1 million in kickbacks from a for-profit youth rehabilitation center will spend up to 28 years in prison, following his sentencing hearing last Thursday. Over the weekend, CNN sat down with the mother of one of his victims, a young man who was so distraught by his unjust incarceration that he committed suicide. “It’s justice in the sense that he is going to pay for what we’ve been dealing with for the last eight years,” Sandy Fonzo, the boy’s mother, told the network. “True justice, I don’t think there could ever be. He’ll never live the sentence that I live.” This video is from CNN, broadcast Sunday, August 14, 2011.

quaids claim corruption keeping them in canada

is there a connection between phonehackers & star-whackers?
quaids claim corruption keeping them in canadafrom ap: Randy Quaid says he would like to return to the United States one day, but he and his wife still fear they are being persecuted by California prosecutors and tabloid media.

Although U.S. officials recently refused to seek extradition of the actor and his wife from Canada to face felony vandalism charges in Santa Barbara, Calif., authorities in the coastal town say they'll still have the couple arrested if they return to the states.

The Quaids, who have missed several court appearances in the case, claim they are the victims of corrupt forces and are demanding an investigation.

"I feel like we've been driven out of the country and that the door's been slammed behind us," Quaid told The Associated Press in a phone interview from British Columbia on Friday. "And for what, these phony little trespassing, vandalism charges? Santa Barbara can sleep better tonight knowing the Quaids are out of their hair."...

Quaid sought asylum, claiming he was being hunted by "Hollywood star-whackers" who had killed his friends Keith Carradine and Heath Ledger...

Drawing parallels with the phone hacking scandal that has engulfed British papers owned by Post parent News Corp., Randy Quaid claims he had discussed many details that were included in the Post piece with his attorney on a cell phone before boarding a flight in New York.

As the plane was about to leave, the Quaids said Post columnist Michael Riedel contacted him about the allegations, which the Quaids believe could have only been revealed if someone had hacked their phone.

The paper rejected the allegation in a statement released to the AP late Friday. "Michael Riedel categorically denies this claim," the paper said in a statement, stating that Quaid has provided no proof he was hacked.

The Quaids say they hope other stars will speak out and that inquiries by U.S. authorities will expose dirty tabloid tactics similar to those surfacing in the U.K. "At least they're outraged in England," Evi Quaid said. "I hope that it crosses to New York and people get angry."

blago guilty in chicagoland corruption & selling soetoro's senate seat

blago guilty in chicagoland corruption & selling soetoro's senate seatfrom dpa: Former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich was on Monday found guilty on 17 of 20 corruption charges in connection with trying to sell the Senate seat held by US President Barack Obama before he took office. Blagojevich was found guilty last year of making false statements to federal investigators, but the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the other counts, setting the stage for a second trial.

He was found guilty of racketeering, extortion, soliciting a bribe and conspiracy. Some of those charges included shakedowns of a children's hospital and a horse racing executive. He was acquitted on one count of shaking down a construction executive and a verdict was not reached on two other counts, the Chicago Tribune reported. The newspaper reported he faces a significant prison sentence.

Leaving the Chicago courtroom, Blagojevich said he was 'very disappointed' by the verdicts. 'I, frankly, am stunned,' said Blagojevich, who has professed his innocence.

Blagojevich, 54, had been accused of trying to sell Obama's seat after he was caught on wiretap by federal investigators during a previous investigation. As governor, he had the power to appoint Obama's successor in the Senate until an election could be held be held.

Blagojevich, a Democrat, was arrested in December 2008 - weeks after Obama won the presidential election - after being recorded in a profanity-laced conversation describing the Senate vacancy as a 'golden' asset for which he was seeking political or financial returns. The Illinois General Assembly impeached Blagojevich the following January and removed him from office.

for hollywood, it was a tough 2010 as spending continued to fall

for hollywood, it was a tough 2010 as spending continued to fallfrom latimes: To paraphrase Apollo 13 astronaut Jack Swigert, "Hollywood, we have a problem." The industry that was supposed to be immune to economic downturns looks like it's going to have some re-entry problems as the economy begins to recover. Broad swaths of the entertainment business declined in 2010. DVD sales were off 13%. Music CD purchases plummeted 19%. Video game sales as well as concert and theater attendance also fell. Even the turnout for America's favorite pastimes — baseball and NASCAR — was down. And swift changes in technology will make it difficult for Hollywood to capture pre-recession levels of revenue. So much for the value of escapism. But perhaps most ominously, last summer the pay-television industry suffered an unprecedented net loss - for the first time - of customers, a yellow warning light that consumers may no longer regard cable TV as a must-have utility on par with electricity and phone service.

mission accomplished: the speech obama should give about iraq war

what obama won't say
mission accomplished: the speech obama should give about iraq warfrom juan cole: Fellow Americans, and Iraqis who are watching this speech, I have come here this evening not to declare a victory or to mourn a defeat on the battlefield, but to apologize from the bottom of my heart for a series of illegal actions and grossly incompetent policies pursued by the government of the United States of America, in defiance of domestic US law, international treaty obligations, and both American and Iraqi public opinion... We cannot undo what has been done. We cannot pretend that the United States did not violate the United Nations charter and the Geneva Conventions. But we can make amends. We can seek redemption as a nation. And our salvation lies in forswearing permanent war, aggressive war, undeclared war, and police actions as a way of life.

US waves white flag in disastrous 'war on drugs'

after 40yrs, washington is quietly giving up on a futile battle that has spread corruption & destroyed thousands of lives
US waves white flag in disastrous 'war on drugs'from independent: After 40 years of defeat and failure, America's "war on drugs" is being buried in the same fashion as it was born – amid bloodshed, confusion, corruption and scandal. US agents are being pulled from South America; Washington is putting its narcotics policy under review, and a newly confident region is no longer prepared to swallow its fatal Prohibition error. Indeed, after the expenditure of billions of dollars and the violent deaths of tens of thousands of people, a suitable epitaph for America's longest "war" may well be the plan, in Bolivia, for every family to be given the right to grow coca in its own backyard.

The "war", declared unilaterally throughout the world by Richard Nixon in 1969, is expiring as its strategists start discarding plans that have proved futile over four decades: they are preparing to withdraw their agents from narcotics battlefields from Colombia to Afghanistan and beginning to coach them in the art of trumpeting victory and melting away into anonymous defeat. Not surprisingly, the new strategy is being gingerly aired in the media of the US establishment, from The Wall Street Journal to the Miami Herald.

Prospects in the new decade are thus opening up for vast amounts of useless government expenditure being reassigned to the treatment of addicts instead of their capture and imprisonment. And, no less important, the ever-expanding balloon of corruption that the "war" has brought to heads of government, armies and police forces wherever it has been waged may slowly start to deflate.

2 suspicious deaths surrounding banksters & blagojevich

indicted financier danny pang dies in california
indicted financier danny pang dies in californiafrom bloomberg: Danny Pang, the founder of Private Equity Management Group Inc., who U.S. regulators claim bilked Taiwanese investors, died [sep11], a spokesman for the Pang family said. He was 42. Pang was taken from his Newport Beach, California, home to Hoag Hospital the afternoon of Sept. 11 by paramedics who had responded to a call from the house, said Sergeant Doug Jones of the Newport Beach Police Department. Charles Sipkins, a Pang family spokesman, confirmed the death and declined to comment further. Pang’s lawyer, James Riddet, wasn’t available. Pang, who was free on $1 million bail, pleaded not guilty on July 27 to charges in a separate criminal case that he structured cash withdrawals to avoid having to report them. He was charged in an indictment with two counts of making a total of about 50 withdrawals in amounts of as high as $9,900 to evade a U.S. law that requires reporting cash withdrawals of $10,000 or more. A trial date was set for Sept. 15, though it was postponed last month to August 2010. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission accused Pang of lying to Taiwanese investors about his credentials, forging insurance documents and paying existing investors with funds raised from new ones, while claiming the returns came from investments in life insurance policies.

christopher kelly, key figure in blagojevich corruption probe, dead
christopher kelly, key figure in blagojevich corruption probe, deadfrom chicago tribune: Christopher Kelly, a key figure in the federal corruption probe into former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, is dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office today confirmed that Christopher Kelly of Burr Ridge was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 10:46 a.m. The office said Kelly died of salicylate intoxication. According to medical reference guides, salicylates are used in anti-inflammatory and pain relief medications. Kelly was found in a lumber yard near 173rd Street and Cicero Avenue in Country Club Hills late Friday, said the town’s mayor, Dwight Welch. Kelly arrived at Oak Forest Hospital at 11:15 p.m. Friday, said Marcel Bright, a Stroger Hospital spokesman. At Oak Forest, he was treated and stabilized and doctors determined he needed additional treatment at Stroger, so he was transferred there by private ambulance, Bright said. Kelly arrived at Stroger at 5:15 a.m. Kelly was treated by doctors and pronounced dead at 10:46 a.m., said hospital spokesman Marcel Bright. Chicago Police are conducting a death investigation along with Country Club Hills police. Oak Forest Hospital officials alerted authorities of Kelly’s whereabouts about 3 a.m., Welch said. Police found vomit in the lumber yard parking lot, Welch said. “We are treating this as a death investigation–it’s a possible homicide or suicide, but it’s a high-profile case so we have a homicide level investigation,” Welch said.
