from rememberbuilding7.org: The 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2001 is a moment to reflect on why we continue to fight for a proper investigation into the tragic events of that day.

Those who cling to the official story of 9/11 because it affirms their sense of purpose in the world would have the rest of us believe that questioning the official story is a dishonor to those who died, and an offense to their families.

This could not be further from the truth, for the pursuit of truth always has been and always will be led by those who lost their loved ones on September 11, 2001.

It was the 9/11 families whose relentless campaigning led to the formation of the 9/11 Commission. It was their leadership that established the moral framework for millions of concerned citizens to join the pursuit of truth. It is their perseverance, despite the passage of time, that continues to inspire millions to fight.

On the 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, let us remember that the most meaningful way to honor those who died is to continue to fight for the truth.

We thank you for standing with NYC CAN and with the 9/11 family members, first responders and survivors NYC CAN represents.

thievery corporation blasts the 'culture of fear'

it's been nearly three years since the long-running dc duo known as thievery corporation plotted 'radio retaliation'; now they're back with their sixth studio album and it's called 'culture of fear'.

the group has a long history of conspiratorial-sounding song lyrics ("i'm the president of the shadow government / the grand governor of the federal reserve / public enemy of the society") and album titles (mirror conspiracy, richest man in babylon). and while the new record features song titles like 'web of deception', 'tower seven' & 'false flag dub' - the seattlepi points out that "despite the album title, 'culture of fear' rarely addresses specific political issues."

most of the reviews for the record haven't been exactly glowing and even their hometown city paper worries that "the group has sunk into a quicksand of bizarre politico-mysticism." one can't help but be reminded of muse, another band that uses conspiracy culture themes in their albums & lyrics - so the question becomes: is it all just a marketing pose? well, as with all art, the audience will have to answer that questions for themselves.

from wvgazette: A third party candidate in West Virginia's U.S. Senate race questions whether the Sept. 11 attacks were masterminded by Osama bin Laden and carried out by al-Qaida terrorists. Mountain Party nominee Jesse Johnson told The Associated Press that he is also not convinced that hijacked airliners caused the collapse of buildings at the World Trade Center. Calling 9/11 a crime of the century, Johnson said it has never been investigated. He discounts the work of the bipartisan commission that issued a 585-page report on the attacks in 2004. Johnson at first declined to say what he thinks happened or who was behind it. He later said he did not know who the culprits were. But he also questioned why U.S. air defenses did not stop the hijacked airplanes. Johnson spoke to the AP Tuesday.

bombshell: bin laden worked for US until 9/11
from against all enemies: Former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds dropped a bombshell on the Mike Malloy radio show, guest-hosted by Brad Friedman (audio, partial transcript). In the interview, Sibel says that the US maintained 'intimate relations' with Bin Laden, and the Taliban, "all the way until that day of September 11." These 'intimate relations' included using Bin Laden for 'operations' in Central Asia, including Xinjiang, China. These 'operations' involved using al Qaeda and the Taliban in the same manner "as we did during the Afghan and Soviet conflict," that is, fighting 'enemies' via proxies. As Sibel has previously described, and as she reiterates in this latest interview, this process involved using Turkey (with assistance from 'actors from Pakistan, and Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia') as a proxy, which in turn used Bin Laden and the Taliban and others as a proxy terrorist army.

from ap: Accused al Qaeda mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed complained that interrogators tortured lies out of him, though he proudly took credit for more than two dozen other terror plots, according to newly released sections of government transcripts. "I make up stories," Mohammed said at one point in his 2007 hearing at Guantánamo Bay. In broken English, he described an interrogation in which he was asked the location of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. "Where is he? I don't know," Mohammed said. "Then he torture me. Then I said, 'Yes, he is in this area or this is al Qaeda which I don't know him.' I said no, they torture me." Yet at the same military tribunal hearing, Mohammed ticked off a list of 29 terror plots in which he took part.

from washington's blog: An East Coast 9/11 truth activist is preparing to file a defamation lawsuit against TV / radio personality, Glenn Beck, the producers of the Glenn Beck Program, and the Fox News Channel. Specifically, Greg Hoover will be suing the above-described defendants in Federal Court for Beck’s having repeatedly broadcast statements characterizing those who question the government’s official version of the events of 9/11 as, "anarchists," "terrorists" and as persons denying the Holocaust. The complaint will note that - on October 22, 2007 - Beck suggested that those identifying themselves as associated with the 9/11 truth movement are "dangerous" "anarchists" who deny the Holocaust, and are "the kind of group that Timothy McVeigh would come from." The suit will also note that during Beck’s June 10th broadcast Beck linked the murder of the Washington D.C. holocaust museum guard with "9/11 truthers."

from raw story: Peter Lance should be thanking Patrick Fitzgerald right now, even as the attorney’s checks are being signed. If it were not for the U.S. Attorney who famously prosecuted I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, the former Vice President’s Chief of Staff, the re-release of Lance’s stunning tale of mishandled espionage leading up to the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, might be overlooked. The former ABC News investigative reporter’s book Triple Cross hit relatively few shelves in 2006 as a hardcover and left retail quietly, almost completely ignored. Now, with its paperback release looming, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald is threatening to sue over material which he calls “defamatory” and “easily proven to be objectively false,” some of which touches on little known information relating to the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Because of the threat, the reissue of Triple Cross received attention from The Washington Post, Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal and the Associated Press, among others. “That’s the lesson of censorship,” chided Lance, speaking to RAW STORY.

faulty equipment stops deutsche bank work again
from tribeca trib: For the second time in a week, faulty equipment has led to the shutdown of decontamination work on the former Deutsche Bank tower, near the World Trade Center site. Responding to reports of smoke outside the building late Tuesday morning, June 9, firefighters discovered a malfunction in part of the building’s negative air pressure machinery, which produces a hermetic seal on the toxic portions of the tower. Crews were told to quit working on the building, and did not return to work until the following morning. The smoke was the result of a piece of overheated equipment outside the building, according to Mike Murphy, spokesman for the tower’s owners, the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. “Right now we’re trying to figure out exactly why that equipment wasn’t working properly,” Murphy said.

from history commons: Some of the recently added entries go into more detail about the 9/11 Commission, which discovered the FAA was withholding documents from it in September 2003 and issued its first subpoena for them a month later. Soon after, the commission also subpoenaed the Pentagon, despite a last-ditch bid to avert it by the commission’s Vice Chairman Lee Hamilton, a good friend of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. In addition, Commissioner John Lehman repeatedly told the White House of Saudi links to the 9/11 plotters, but the administration was uninterested.

On the day of 9/11, fighters launched from Langley Air Force Base were given the wrong coordinates for Washington at about 9:40 a.m., Otis Air Force Base was ordered to launch all fighters at about 10:20 a.m., and a security officer became trapped in WTC 7 around 10:00 a.m.

The very first entry in the timeline has also changed, and is now for a 1968 advert showing an airliner striking one of the WTC buildings, something that nearly happened in 1981.

Finally, in the late 1990s Yemeni authorities saw Abu Hamza al-Masri, an informer for the British security services, as a terrorist leader in Yemen.

'lucky' larry silverstein wants a bailout, too

from raw story: As if there weren't enough roadblocks to seeing a new structure rise from the site where the World Trade Center towers once stood. From this morning's Wall St. Journal:

The rebuilding of the World Trade Center site, already hobbled by years of delays and infighting, is facing fresh problems as private developer Larry Silverstein asks the government for crucial financial assistance, according to people familiar with the matter. The result would be that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the government entity that owns the site, would take on more of the risk of the project at a time when the agency already faces budget restraints to pursue its core transportation and infrastructure missions. The Port Authority, eager to prevent the project from stalling, is considering helping to finance at least one of Mr. Silverstein's planned three office towers, according to people familiar with the matter. Mr. Silverstein is requesting financing help on at least two of the three towers. The Port Authority would require concessions from Mr. Silverstein, including possibly giving up some of upside profits should the towers succeed in the long term.

This is the same guy who wanted double his insurance policy's value after the devastating 2001 attacks because each airplane impact, as he said, was actually a separate act of terrorism. And that's the Nice on some of the bad press surrounding Silverstein ... Most know him best from his eternally curious comment to PBS shortly after the collapse of WTC 7. Is this a worthy use of tax dollars by the Port Authority?
