op-ed: upcoming police exercise is unsettling from augusta chronicle: There will be a government exercise conducted July 27-31. It is called National Level Exercise '09, or NLE '09. Although the focus of this exercise is on terrorism, it will not be focused on bearded men from the Middle East. The focus will be on internal threats: Americans. If this seems a bit absurd to the reader, let me expound on it.
The Pentagon, in their own documents, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Virginia State Police, in their own documents, have labeled Americans as possible terrorist threats. These people are known as Christians, pro-life activists, gun-rights advocates, homeschoolers, Ron Paul supporters, 9/11 truth activists, tea party demonstrators, etc. If this is hard to believe, one need only to type "Missouri Information Analysis Center" in a search engine to learn more.
The aforementioned exercise will focus on terrorism prevention. This exercise will be a multinational, multi-agency effort. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, state, county, local and tribal agencies will focus on intelligence- and information-gathering.
When all the documentation suggests that hard-working, honest citizens who believe in God, life and liberty are terrorists, then this country is in danger. The focus of the exercise is unsettling. If the mayor of one city can suspend our rights, what is the full might and muscle of our federal government capable of?
contractors vie for plum work, hacking for US from nytimes: The government’s urgent push into cyberwarfare has set off a rush among the biggest military companies for billions of dollars in new defense contracts. The exotic nature of the work, coupled with the deep recession, is enabling the companies to attract top young talent that once would have gone to Silicon Valley. And the race to develop weapons that defend against, or initiate, computer attacks has given rise to thousands of “hacker soldiers” within the Pentagon who can blend the new capabilities into the nation’s war planning. Nearly all of the largest military companies — including Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon — have major cyber contracts with the military and intelligence agencies. The companies have been moving quickly to lock up the relatively small number of experts with the training and creativity to block the attacks and design countermeasures. They have been buying smaller firms, financing academic research and running advertisements for “cyberninjas” at a time when other industries are shedding workers. The changes are manifesting themselves in highly classified laboratories, where computer geeks in their 20s like to joke that they are hackers with security clearances.
cybersecurity framework for total govt regulation & control from paul joseph watson & kurt nimmo: The Obama administration’s new Cybersecurity system will only make the Internet more vulnerable to attack, while creating the framework for a massively upgraded government surveillance grid that will control and regulate every aspect of our daily lives through the implementation of “smart” technology. Obama’s announcement of the new cybersecurity grid dovetails with a recently introduced Senate bill, the Cybersecurity Act of 2009, that would hand the president the power to shut down the entire Internet in the event of a “cybersecurity” crisis. The bill’s draft states that “the president may order a cybersecurity emergency and order the limitation or shutdown of Internet traffic” and would give the government ongoing access to “all relevant data concerning (critical infrastructure) networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access,” reports Raw Story. The legislation would allow the government to tap into any digital aspect of every citizen’s information without a warrant. Banking, business and medical records would be wide open to inspection, as well as personal instant message and e mail communications. This is President Bush’s warrantless wiretapping program on steroids, yet the reaction from the liberal left has been muted to say the least. Furthermore, the reasoning behind the proposal is a farce, since cybersecurity will make the Internet even more vulnerable to attack. According to Jennifer Granick, director of civil liberties at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the program would “basically establish a path for the bad guys to skip down.” One of the bill’s authors, Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia, admitted that the bill was about more than just military or intelligence concerns. “It is a lot more than that. It suddenly gets into the realm of traffic lights and rail networks and water and electricity,” said Rockefeller.
from kurt nimmo: FEMA is preparing to take its martial law exercises to the next level this July. According to a factsheet buried on the FEMA website, the agency will host National Level Exercise 2009 (NLE 09) on July 27 through July 31, 2009. “NLE 09 will be the first major exercise conducted by the United States government that will focus exclusively on terrorism prevention and protection, as opposed to incident response and recovery,” the factsheet states. It is designated as a Tier I National Level Exercise, or TOPOFF, which are exercises conducted annually in accordance with the National Exercise Program (NEP), “which serves as the nation’s overarching exercise program for planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating national level exercises,” according to FEMA. NLE 09 “will focus on intelligence and information sharing among intelligence and law enforcement communities, and between international, federal, regional, state, tribal, local and private sector participants” in the “aftermath of a notional terrorist event outside of the United States.” So-called “exercise play” will concentrate on “preventing subsequent efforts by the terrorists to enter the United States and carry out additional attacks... NLE 09 will be an operations-based exercise to include: activities taking place at command posts, emergency operation centers, intelligence centers and potential field locations to include federal headquarters facilities in the Washington D.C. area, and in federal, regional, state, tribal, local and private sector facilities in FEMA Region VI, which includes the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas."
dhs proposes US gun laws to fight mexican drug cartel violence from kurt nimmo: Roger Rufe, Homeland Security’s head of operations, wants to further erode the Second Amendment. Rufe told lawmakers more restrictive gun control and law enforcement may be needed in the Southwest United States in response to the drug war in Mexico, according to the Associated Press. Rufe also said protecting border may require “deploying military personnel and equipment to the region if other agencies are overwhelmed.” He did not specify what circumstances would trigger a call for troops. “We would take all resources short of DoD and National Guard troops before we reach that tipping point,” Rufe told lawmakers on a House homeland security subcommittee. “We very much do not want to militarize our border.” Democrats joined the chorus rallying against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
police trained that informed americans are domestic terrorists from truthnews: A secret report distributed by the Missouri Information Analysis Center lists Ron Paul supporters, libertarians, people who display bumper stickers, people who own gold, or even people who fly a U.S. flag and equates them with radical race hate groups and terrorists. This is merely the latest example in an alarming trend which confirms that law enforcement across the country is being trained that American citizens are a dangerous enemy.
how to: survive the apocalypse (think diy knives & solar stills) from danger room: Best-selling author Neil Strauss helped Jenna Jameson show us How to Make Love Like a Porn Star. Then he taught us the finer points of attracting mates in The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists. Now, Strauss has new knowledge to drop. In his just-published book,Emergency: This Book Will Save Your Life, he schools us on what to do, if everything suddenly goes to hell. Strauss has spent the last several years training to become a full-fledged survivalist - learning how to live off the land with D.I.Y. weapons, homemade solar stills, debris huts, and hot-wired cars. He talks to Danger Room about how he got his new skills. And in an exclusive video, Strauss shows what to do, if you really need a knife - and all you have is a cigarette.
ny state police conduct illegal search for video of flight 3407 crash & illegally confiscate camera from alex constantine: This story is a bit sketchy, IMhO - obvious questions are left hanging by the reporter, to wit:
• Why didn't the police obtain a search warrant before entering John's home and frantically searching for the camera?
• The police claimed that John was on a nearby roof, allegedly accompanied by a 13-year-old boy, taping the wreckage safely beyond the police perimeter. Officials claimed that he shouldn't have been on the roof with a minor. All right. Was this such a deplorable "crime" that they went ballistic, immediately launched into an illegal search for the tape - to "prove" the boy had been on the roof? This is the stated reason for confiscating the video camera. And it's nonsensical - did it occur to these highly-trained law enforcement officials that an illegally-obtained video tape is inadmissible as evidence - the very reason given for confiscating John's camera in the first place?
Or ...
Did the police have ulterior motives for scrambling after the video camera, Delta Force-style ...
buffalo crash investigator once held nuclear codes from ap: Has anyone mentioned that Steven Chealander, the National Transportation Safety Board member leading the Buffalo crash investigation, is a former American Airlines pilot and manager? As the NTSB notes on its Web site: "Mr. Chealander brings a wealth of both civilian and military aviation experience to the NTSB"... He joined American after retiring from the U.S. Air Force. We also found this interesting tidbit about the NTSB member from his official bio: "In 1986, Mr. Chealander was selected as Military Aide to President Ronald Reagan. In this capacity, he performed a variety of ceremonial and emergency preparedness duties, including custody of the President's emergency briefcase, 'the football.'"
obama's hypocrisy for raytheon: #2 at dod worked for military-industrial complex from youtube: Obama has already U-turned on a new policy of not allowing lobbyists in his administration to work with issues they have lobbied on in the past. However, just two days after stating his policy, he is already made an exception to his own rule by allowing William Lynn, a defense lobbyist for Raytheon to become the deputy defense secretary.
video: and you thought bush was bad from sociostudent: I don't see what's so hard to understand about this: Obama is just a front-man for the New World Order, the "brand name" of tyranny for the next 4 to 8 years. He's not the Christ OR the Anti-Christ: He's just an empty suit full of empty promises.
al-zawahiri calls obama 'a house negro' from washington post: Soon after the November election, al-Qaeda's No. 2 leader took stock of America's new president-elect and dismissed him with an insulting epithet. "A house Negro," Ayman al-Zawahiri said. That was just a warm-up. In the weeks since, the terrorist group has unleashed a stream of verbal tirades against Barack Obama, each more venomous than the last. Obama has been called a "hypocrite," a "killer" of innocents, an "enemy of Muslims." He was even blamed for the Israeli military assault on Gaza, which began and ended before he took office. "He kills your brothers and sisters in Gaza mercilessly and without affection," an al-Qaeda spokesman declared in a grainy Internet video this month. The torrent of hateful words is part of what terrorism experts now believe is a deliberate, even desperate, propaganda campaign against a president who appears to have gotten under al-Qaeda's skin. The departure of George W. Bush deprived al-Qaeda of a polarizing American leader who reliably drove recruits and donations to the terrorist group.
obama claims to seek space weapon ban from reuters: President Barack Obama's pledge to seek a worldwide ban on weapons in space marks a dramatic shift in U.S. policy while posing the tricky issue of defining whether a satellite can be a weapon. Moments after Obama's inauguration last week, the White House website was updated to include policy statements on a range of issues, including a pledge to restore U.S. leadership on space issues and seek a worldwide ban on weapons that interfere with military and commercial satellites. It also promised to look at threats to U.S. satellites, contingency plans to keep information flowing from them, and what steps are needed to protect spacecraft against attack. The issue is being closely watched by Lockheed Martin Corp, Boeing Co, Northrop Grumman Corp, the biggest U.S. defense contractors, and other companies involved in military and civilian space contracts. Watchdog groups and even some defense officials welcomed the statement, which echoed Obama's campaign promises, but said it would take time to hammer out a comprehensive new strategy. Enacting a global ban on space weapons could prove even harder.
from steve watson: Global security authorities are to push for a huge biometric facial scan database of international travelers so they can cross-check everyone against a database of terror suspects, international criminals and fugitives.
The database will hold the records of every citizen who has ever traveled in and out of the virtually every country in the world, representing intelligence agency style bulk interception of information and sounding alarm bells for civil liberties groups.
Two months ago we reported on the moves underway to phase out passport control officersat airports and replace them with biometric face scanning cameras. The automated face recognition gates match passengers to a digital image stored on a microchip in the new e-passports.
Interpol wants a facial database to be linked into this technology and used in conjunction with its already existing fingerprint and DNA databases, according to Mark Branchflower, head of Interpol’s fingerprint unit.
We have previously noted that the vast array of databases currently being employed by intelligence agencies, government and law enforcement agencies worldwide weredesigned to be linked together in a system which will tie in the management and control of all facets of life for citizens to one central hub.
Earlier this year we reported on the announcement of a vast intelligence program to establish a global biometric database known as "Server in the Sky"that will collate and provide an "International Information Consortium" with access to the biometric measurements and personal information of citizens across the globe in the name of fighting the “war on terror”.
As reported by the London Guardian, the plan is being formulated by the FBI with the cooperation of the home offices and law enforcement agencies of American allies. The technology is being supplied by the US defense company Northrop Grumman.
Furthermore, the use of such technology, as we have already seen, will not be limited to the passport control office.
pentagon researcher conjures warcraft terror plot from danger room: The American military and intelligence communities are increasingly worried that would-be bin Ladens might gather in a virtual world, to plan a real-life attack. But the spies haven't given many details, about how it might be done. Now, a Pentagon researcher has laid out how such a terror plot might unfold. The planning ground is World of Warcraft. The main target of this possibly nuclear strike: the White House. There's been no public proof to date of terrorists hatching plots in virtual worlds. But online spaces like World of Warcraft are makingsome spooks, generals and Congressmen extremely nervous. They imagine terrorists rehearsing attacks in these worlds, just like the U.S. military trains with commercial shoot-em-up games. They worry that the massively multiplayer games make it incredibly easy to gather plotters from around the world. But, mostly, virtual worlds are nerve-wracking to spies because they're so hard to monitor. The accounts are pseudonymous. The access is global. The jargon is thick. And most of the spy agencies' employees aren't exactly level-70 shamans. In a presentation(6.9mb PPT)late last week at the Director of National Intelligence Open Source Conference in Washington, Dr. Dwight Toavs, a professor at the Pentagon-funded National Defense University, gave a bit of a primer on virtual worlds to an audience largely ignorant about what happens in these online spaces. Then he launched into a scenario, to demonstrate how a meatspace plot might be hidden by in-game chatter.
US govt mad scientists geo-engineer atmosphere from paul joseph watson: U.S. government scientists are bombarding the skies with the acid-rain causing pollutant sulphur dioxide in an attempt to fight global warming by “geo-engineering” the planet, despite the fact that injecting aerosols into the upper atmosphere carries with it a host of both known and unknown dangers. The proposal to disperse sulphur dioxide in an attempt to reflect sunlight was again raised in a London Guardian article this week entitled, Geoengineering: The radical ideas to combat global warming, in which Ken Caldeira, a leading climate scientist based at the Carnegie Institution in Stanford, California, promotes the idea of injecting the atmosphere with aerosols.
the army's totally serious mind-control project from time: Soldiers barking orders at each other is so 20th Century. That's why the U.S. Army has just awarded a $4 million contract to begin developing "thought helmets" that would harness silent brain waves for secure communication among troops. Ultimately, the Army hopes the project will "lead to direct mental control of military systems by thought alone." If this sounds insane, it would have been as recently as a few years ago. But improvements in computing power and a better understanding of how the brain works have scientists busy hunting for the distinctive neural fingerprints that flash through a brain when a person is talking to himself. The Army's initial goal is to capture those brain waves with incredibly sophisticated software that then translates the waves into audible radio messages for other troops in the field. "It'd be radio without a microphone, " says Dr. Elmar Schmeisser, the Army neuroscientist overseeing the program. "Because soldiers are already trained to talk in clean, clear and formulaic ways, it would be a very small step to have them think that way."
US christens '9/11 steel' warship from bbc: Thousands of people have gathered in Louisiana for the christening of a US warship built partly from steel salvaged from the World Trade Center. The twin towers in New York were destroyed in the hijacked planes attack of 11 September 2001. Friends and families of 9/11 victims were among those at the ceremony for the new amphibious assault ship, the USS New York, in the base of Avondale. The bow contains 7.5 tonnes of steel taken from Ground Zero. It also bore a shield with two bars to symbolise the towers and a banner with the slogan Never Forget.flashback: twin towers wreckage turning up all over the place
'incompetent' criticism: 9/11, phillip shenon & the biggest lie in history from crimes of the state: I'll cut to the chase: the cover up of 9/11 was all about hiding incompetence; that is the opinion of Philip Shenon and the gaggle of book reviewers who promote his tome over at Big Media. Let's make the crucial distinction up front: It's not "incompetence" if done intentionally. This unthinkable concept has never made it up to the editors and reporters of America's well-paid professional journalism class. There can only be unintentional incompetence, and never purposeful malfeasance: never agency of treason. Such myths would be comforting if there weren't a long and despicable history of such government crimes to draw upon - something professional journalists are supposed to be aware of, yet never seem to write about.
'official conspiracy theory' believed only by 'hypocrites & fools' from people's voice: There is one thing that defines everyone over the course of these early years of this new century. That thing is the 9/11 attack. Everyone in government and every field of endeavor the world over is defined by their position on this event. It is not necessary to know the truth. It is only necessary to know the extent of the lies in order to define any leader in any position anywhere in the world. By what they have said and by what they have not said, one can accurately judge who is an enemy of the people's of the world. One can accurately determine who is a tool of the psychopaths or one of them.
from kvii: Cloud seeding aims to maximize moisture in clouds and produce rainfall... Planes shoot flares of silver iodide into clouds in both the target area and the buffer zone...with only the goal of making it rain in the target area. Leading those in buffer zone to say...their rain is being stolen. "If the good Lord above decides I don't need a rain, I can handle that," said Cogdell. "But when it gets down to a man deciding who gets it in what amount and who doesn't...that's just plain ol' not right." The groundwater district sees it another way.
norway's biggest quake ever from afp: Norway's biggest ever earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, shook the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard early Thursday, a Norwegian seismology institute said... Longyearbyen, one of the world's most northerly towns, is home to a new "doomsday vault" of samples of the most important seeds on Earth aimed at providing mankind with a reserve in the event of a global catastrophe. The vault is set to be inaugurated next Tuesday by European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Nobel Peace Prize winning environmentalist Wangari Maathai and Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.

uk govt wants personal details of every traveller from guardian: Passengers travelling between EU countries or taking domestic flights would have to hand over a mass of personal information, including their mobile phone numbers and credit card details, as part of a new package of security measures being demanded by the British government. The data would be stored for 13 years and used to "profile" suspects.
