'Buzz One Four' is the forthcoming documentary film from Portland-based filmmaker Matt McCormick that tells the tale of the "ill-fated flight of a Cold War Air Force B-52 bomber loaded with two thermonuclear bombs that crashed approximately 100 miles from Washington DC in 1964..." Media Monarchy takes a quick look at the politically personal reasons behind the making of this important film. You can help fund the film here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mattmccormick/buzz-one-four

remembrance & solidarity on september 11, 2011

from rememberbuilding7.org: The 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2001 is a moment to reflect on why we continue to fight for a proper investigation into the tragic events of that day.
Those who cling to the official story of 9/11 because it affirms their sense of purpose in the world would have the rest of us believe that questioning the official story is a dishonor to those who died, and an offense to their families.
This could not be further from the truth, for the pursuit of truth always has been and always will be led by those who lost their loved ones on September 11, 2001.
It was the 9/11 families whose relentless campaigning led to the formation of the 9/11 Commission. It was their leadership that established the moral framework for millions of concerned citizens to join the pursuit of truth. It is their perseverance, despite the passage of time, that continues to inspire millions to fight.
On the 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, let us remember that the most meaningful way to honor those who died is to continue to fight for the truth.
We thank you for standing with NYC CAN and with the 9/11 family members, first responders and survivors NYC CAN represents.
Please watch the 10th Anniversary TV ad and consider donating to our 10th Anniversary Campaign as an act of remembrance and in solidarity with the families who continue to seek the truth.

from 'flash mob' to 'flash rob': 5 things to know about crime waves
military.com says flash mob attacks 'the new terrorism'
from ibtimes: A flash mob in Germantown, Maryland robbed a local 7-Eleven store in under one minute Saturday night. Surveillance footage of the incident shows a group of teenagers walking wordlessly into the convenience store. They are followed seconds later by a stream of people, presumably juveniles, many covering their faces with shirts and hoods. The group walks around the store, taking as much as possible, before leaving 40 seconds later.
Montgomery County Police believe the event was organized online, likely on Facebook. A total of 28 individuals were captured in the videotape, and investigators say they have identified about half of them. The video was posted online, and many members of the community came forward with tips.
Flash mobs aren't new, nor are they unique to Maryland. They are an increasingly frequent trend that often have severe results, and townships and police departments around the country are trying to figure out how to combat the problem.

'kids for cash' judge only gets 28yr jail sentence
judge mark ciavarella the personification of evil'*
from raw replay: A former Pennsylvania judge who rendered guilty verdicts in exchange for over $1 million in kickbacks from a for-profit youth rehabilitation center will spend up to 28 years in prison, following his sentencing hearing last Thursday. Over the weekend, CNN sat down with the mother of one of his victims, a young man who was so distraught by his unjust incarceration that he committed suicide. “It’s justice in the sense that he is going to pay for what we’ve been dealing with for the last eight years,” Sandy Fonzo, the boy’s mother, told the network. “True justice, I don’t think there could ever be. He’ll never live the sentence that I live.” This video is from CNN, broadcast Sunday, August 14, 2011.

9/11 survivors lawsuit against united airlines given go-ahead
9/11 mother to make legal history suing over son's 21 minutes of terror before his doomed flight hit world trade center
from allgov: In the 10 years since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, thousands of survivors have settled their lawsuits against the airlines and other parties, and collected awards totaling billions of dollars. But one family has held out so it can have its day in court, and that time is finally approaching.
The plaintiff is the mother of Mark Bavis, one of the passengers aboard United Airlines Flight 175, the second plane to strike the World Trade Center. She is suing United and Huntleigh USA, the security company that screened passengers at Logan International in Boston, where the flight originated.
Bavis’ family contends that he and the other passengers would not have died had United and Huntleigh done their jobs and thus thwarted the hijackers who flew the airliner into the South Tower.
They blame United for ignoring government warnings about terrorist threats and Huntleigh for inadequate screening of passengers.
Her attorneys intend to portray the last minutes of the flight as sheer terror, based on phone calls made by other passengers. In a pretrial motion United’s legal team tried to keep Bavis from pursuing pain-and-suffering damages for the last moments of her son’s life. But a federal judge, Alvin Hellerstein, ruled this week that he is inclined to allow the trial’s jury to formulate an amount for such damages.
The wrongful-death case is expected to go to trial in November.

more drivers running out of gas as they accelerate towards econocrash
update: US gasoline settles at 33-month high on stock draw
from cbs local: With gas prices pushing $4 a gallon, a lot of people are trying to stretch their dollar at the gas pump, but some of them are trying to stretch it a little too far. Since the beginning of March, AAA has seen an 18 percent increase in the number of roadside calls for people running out of gas. “I never put a lot in because I can’t afford to fill it up,” Leo Greek, a stranded motorist, said. He says he’s not even sure how much it would cost to fill up his truck these days because he hasn’t done it for a while. He gets only what he needs and today he underestimated. “It’s frustrating,” Greek said. “I can’t believe it has to be that expensive, but I know everybody’s going through it.” According to AAA, gas prices in the Pittsburgh area have gone up 26 cents per gallon in the last month. “Before it was more absentminded than anything else,” Jim Krebs with Brighton Service said. “But now, I believe that’s what it is. I believe people are like, ‘Man, I got to buy something else so I’m not going to put gas in the car. I should be able to make it,’ and they don’t.”

california prop 19: giant leap towards ending fraudulent drugwar
from ethan jacobs, j.d.: This November 2nd, Californians have an opportunity to vote yes on Proposition 19 which, if passed, would set an important precedent for abolishing the fraudulent war on drugs. The war on drugs is a hypocritical fraud because hundreds of thousands of low-level street marijuana dealers are arrested each year, while the global elite’s agents within the CIA and other government agencies continue to manage the international drug trade of narcotics. There are also many important social and economical reasons for supporting Proposition 19... The global elite and governments they control have been running the international drug trade for hundreds, if not thousands, of years..
Passage of California Proposition 19 and the legalization of marijuana would be a major victory for individual freedom and a blow to the police state. The war on drugs is a miserable failure; hundreds of thousands of low-level marijuana arrests are made each year while the global elite and their government puppets continue to traffic narcotics, making billions in off-the-books profits. Legalizing marijuana will reduce prison costs while increasing sales tax revenue for state and local government.

gadsden flags start disputes around the country
from the upshot: An Arizona man is in trouble with his homeowners' association over flying the Gadsden flag, which features a coiled rattlesnake and the words "Don't Tread on Me." The flag has been adopted by members of the tea party movement for its association with the American Revolution, but Andy McDonel tells the New York Times that he has hung the flag from his roof simply for its historical significance.Arizona has a state statute that allows Arizonans to fly "the Stars and Stripes, the state flag, flags representing Indian nations as well as the official flags of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard," the Times reports.
McDonel's homeowners' association is strictly interpreting that law to ban the flying of any other flags, including the Gadsden. The American Civil Liberties Union is defending McDonel, saying the homeowners' group is taking too strict a view of the statute and restricting McDonel's right to free speech. McDonel is chronicling his struggle on a blog, where he is asking for donations for a potential legal battle. McDonel isn't the only person to run into a dispute over the historic flag.

americans renounce citizenship to avoid irs
americans who swap passports
from financial times: At the US Embassy in London, there is a waiting list that none of the officials likes to discuss. On the list are Americans hoping to give up their citizenship, as they seek shelter from the Internal Revenue Service.
One lawyer fighting for her clients’ right to do so is Suzanne Reisman, a former civil rights campaigner, who is now a private-client lawyer in Mayfair, central London.
“You make a lot of sacrifices when you have to pay US taxes and live outside the country for a long time. But you also make a lot of sacrifices when you give up your passport,” she says.
Having lived in London since 1998, Ms Reisman herself has considered giving up her US passport. But she probably won’t. “I don’t think I want to die in the UK,” she says...

voters back anti-dc, anti-establishment candidates
hope, change or more of the same?
from ap: With the electorate's intense anger reverberating across the country, this is all but certain: It's an anti-Washington, anti-establishment year. And candidates with ties to either better beware. Any doubt about just how toxic the political environment is for congressional incumbents and candidates hand-picked by national Republican and Democratic leaders disappeared late Tuesday, when voters fired Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania, forced Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln into a run-off in Arkansas and chose tea party darling Rand Paul to be the GOP nominee in Kentucky's Senate race. "People just aren't very happy," Ira Robbins, 61, said in Allentown, Pa. With anyone linked to power, it seems.

17yr old phillies fan tasered: why police are using tasers more often
just another night at the colosseum...
from csmonitor: Did the 17-year-old field-runner who got tasered by a Philadelphia police officer at the Phillies-Cardinals game at Citizens Bank Park Monday night have it coming? Or did the police officer struggling to keep pace go too far by firing 50,000 volts at the towel-waving kid in order to crumple him in front of nearly 45,000 fans?
That's the conversation of the day as video of the incident goes viral on the Web and Americans get another chance to weigh the pros and cons of a device that has become a favorite alternative for police officers confronting weaponless lawbreakers.
The number of Tasers in the hands of police have grown to 375,000 worldwide, and the blowback – from "Don't tase me, bro!" to a reported 300 deaths – has been significant.

ira einhorn, earth day co-creator, was well-connected 'unicorn killer'
from philadelphia bulletin: Today is Earth Day, a holiday created to honor the planet and to raise the consciousness of man’s effect on the environment. Philadelphia has a very strong tie to this day. One of its native sons, Ira Einhorn, was a co-founder of the environmentalist jubilee. But Mr. Einhorn has another line on his resume. In addition to being a environmental guru, he is the Unicorn Killer. While a student at the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Einhorn dated a Bryn Mawr College graduate by the name of Holly Maddux. When the affair ended in 1977, Mr. Einhorn went into a jealous rage and murdered her. He concealed his crime for 18 months by stuffing Ms. Maddux’s body in a trunk that he kept in his apartment. The foul odor of the decomposing corpse coming from Mr. Einhorn’s Powelton Village apartment caused neighbors to complain. In 1979, police found the trunk stored in a closet in Mr. Einhorn’s apartment.
Ira Einhorn, member of the counterculture pantheon, one of the founders of the environmentalist movement, icon of the liberal intelligentsia, was charged with murder.

from latimes: The American Al Qaeda operative arrested in Karachi over the weekend was not the Southern California native wanted by the U.S. on treason charges for his involvement in the terror network, Pakistani intelligence officials said Monday.Pakistani security officials initially asserted that the American Islamic extremist they had captured in the country's largest city late Saturday night was Adam Gadahn of Riverside, a spokesman and top propagandist for the Al Qaeda terror network.
However, by early Monday morning, doubts arose about those initial reports. U.S. officials said they were skeptical of those claims and that there was no indication that Gadahn was the suspect arrested in Karachi.
