US aides 'believe' china 'probably' examined stealth copter in pakistan

video: sultry drama continues after seal team 6 assassinated*
from nytimes: In the days after the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, Pakistan’s intelligence service probably allowed Chinese military engineers to examine the wreckage of a stealth American helicopter that crashed during the operation, according to American officials and others familiar with the classified intelligence assessments... American officials cautioned that they did not yet have definitive proof that the Chinese were allowed to visit to Abbottabad... Several Pakistani officials reached on Sunday declined to comment. The American assessments were disclosed Sunday by The Financial Times. The newspaper cited Pakistani officials who denied the accusations.

is obama about to order the military to invade libya?
obama declares national state of emergency over libyafrom foreign policy: President Obama issued an executive order Friday evening that imposes immediate sanctions on Libyan ruler Muammar al Qaddafi, his sons and his accomplices in the slaughter of civilians. In a letter accompanying the order, Obama declared a national emergency over the situation. "I have determined that the actions of Colonel Muammar Qaddafi, his government, and close associates, including extreme measures against the people of Libya, constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. amid reporter's assault in cairo, pentagon sued over rape coverup

the disturbing story of lara logan, the cbs reporter raped in cairo and the resulting tabloid aftermath in the corporate media, now seems to have become a sexual abuse meme - but these celebrity stories distract from institutional violence that goes under-reported...

video: veterans say rape cases mishandled
amid reporter's assault in cairo, pentagon sued over rape coverupfrom ap: More than a dozen U.S. veterans who say they were raped or assaulted by comrades filed a class-action suit in federal court Tuesday attempting to force the Pentagon to change how it handles such cases. The current and former service members - 15 women and two men - describe circumstances in which servicemen allegedly got away with rape and other sexual abuse while their victims were ordered to continue to serve with them. The suit names Defense Secretary Robert Gates and his predecessor, Donald H. Rumsfeld. The plaintiffs say individual commanders have too much say in how allegations are handled and that they want reforms in the system. The alleged attackers in the lawsuit include an Army criminal investigator and an Army National Guard commander. The abuse alleged ranges from obscene verbal abuse to gang rape.

senior US marine says 'multiple platoons' headed to egypt

senior US marine says 'multiple platoons' headed to egyptfrom business insider: A senior member of the US Marine corps is telling people "multiple platoons" are deploying to Egypt, a source tells us. There is a system within the US Marines that alerts the immediate families of high-ranking marines when their marine will soon be deployed to an emergency situation where they will not be able to talk to their spouses or families. That alert just went out, says our source.

This senior Marine told our source that the Pentagon will deploy "multiple platoons" to Egypt over the next few days and that the official reason will be "to assist in the evacuation of US citizens." Our source was told that "the chances they were going over there went from 70% yesterday to 100% today." We're keeping these people anonymous because both would get in trouble for sharing this information with the press.

On Friday, the Pentagon announced it would move "U.S. warships and other military assets to make sure it is prepared in case evacuation of U.S. citizens from Egypt becomes necessary," according the the LA Times.

cia/cfr envoy frank g. wisner sent to 'speak to mubarak'

cia/cfr envoy frank g. wisner sent to 'speak to mubarak'from washington post: When it was time to give Egypt's embattled leader a gentle nudge, President Obama picked a seasoned diplomat who could deliver the message as a close friend. Frank G. Wisner, a former U.S. ambassador to Cairo, has known Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak for decades and has long advocated strong U.S. ties with him.

The White House dispatched Wisner to Cairo to "add his perspective to our analysis on current developments," as State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley put it on Monday. Within 24 hours of Wisner's private chat with the Egyptian president, Mubarak had announced on state television that he would step down at the end of his current term.

Details of Wisner's conversation with Mubarak were not disclosed, but an administration official said the envoy sought to impress upon the leader the need both to declare he would not seek reelection and to step aside immediately in favor of a transitional government.

Former U.S. government officials who have worked with Wisner, 72, said the retired diplomat developed a close relationship with Mubarak during his assignment in Egypt as ambassador from 1986 to 1991.

After his retirement from the State Department, Wisner worked for Patton Boggs, a Washington lobbying firm that has represented Egypt in the past. He also served on the board of Egypt's largest bank, Commercial International Bank Egypt SAE.

It was not the first time that a U.S. administration had called on Wisner to intervene in a foreign crisis. In 2005, the George W. Bush administration appointed the New York native as a special U.S. representative to international talks on Kosovo's future. The negotiations ended with Kosovo's declaration of independence.

Wisner is the son of the well-known U.S. intelligence officer Frank Wisner Sr., who joined the Office of Strategic Services - the CIA's predecessor - and was partly the inspiration for the character Edward Wilson in the 2006 film "The Good Shepherd."

obama continues elite's agenda of leading US to 'tragedy'

video: econ prof says 'no way forward for US'
obama continues elite's agenda of leading US to 'tragedy'from press tv: The US president is incapable of coping with the changing world, brought along by ignorance of its own internal welfare, a professor of binary economics says, describing the situation as a “tragedy” for Americans. “President Obama's foreign policy is bankrupt and his domestic policy is bankrupt as well," said Rodney Shakespeare, adding, “I regret to say that America has lost its way domestically in exactly the same way as it has lost its way in foreign policy.”
