As Murder And Mayhem Skyrocket, Chicagoland Police Partner Up With 'Anti-Violence' Group CeaseFire

from suntimes.com: “The Interrupters,” the acclaimed documentary about the Chicago-based anti-violence group CeaseFire, caught Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s attention. Worried about the city’s rising tide of bloodshed, Emanuel was impressed with CeaseFire’s strategy of sending ex-felons into the streets to mediate gang conflicts and stop shootings.

The mayor decided to put his police superintendent, Garry McCarthy, and CeaseFire founder Gary Slutkin in the same room a few months ago to discuss a possible partnership, according to City Hall sources. The negotiations were anything but smooth.

Behind the scenes, McCarthy complained about having to deal with an organization full of ex-felons that refuses to share information with the police department about brewing conflicts. And CeaseFire initially balked at demands the police department placed on the group before they could become partners.

But on Tuesday, police officials and CeaseFire announced they had forged a deal. CeaseFire will receive $1 million in city money to put 20 workers each in the Grand-Crossing District on the South Side and the Ogden District on the West Side, both of which have seen recent spikes in gang-related killings. The pilot program will begin July 13.

US Vets Renounce Wars, Throw Medals at NATO Summit

As the war machine visited Chicago yesterday, American war veterans renounced the wars they fought in and threw their medals in the direction of the summit. Protesters, including the children of Afghan refugees, have come from all over the world to voice their opposition to the death and destruction that NATO forces bring. "We don't believe it anymore," one protester said regarding the lies justifying NATO's continued presence in occupied nations, "the only answer we'll take is an immediate exit and troops home now."

Camp David, Not Chicagoland, to Host G8

from nytimes.com: President Obama has boasted for months about playing host to the annual summit meeting of the Group of 8 industrialized nations this May in his hometown, Chicago. But on Monday, without explanation, the White House announced a shift to the secluded setting of Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland.

Administration officials and associates, speaking only on condition of anonymity, said the president in recent weeks began discussing the idea of a more intimate setting for the world leaders — both to ease their communications and to cut down on the security concerns and traffic tie-ups of a big-city meeting.

Also, several noted, attendees will include Vladimir V. Putin, a harsh critic of the United States, who will return as Russia’s president after his election on Sunday.

“To facilitate a free-flowing discussion with our close G-8 partners, the president is inviting his fellow G-8 leaders to Camp David on May 18-19 for the G-8 Summit, which will address a broad range of economic, political and security issues,” the brief White House statement said. Camp David is about an hour from Washington and open only to the president and people he invites.

Still, the change was unusual given the months-long lead time that such events require.

#OccupyWallStreet US police 'maced peaceful protesters' in new york

from channel4: The #OccupyWallStreet campaign said police confined a small number of protesters before spraying them with mace. Clips of the alleged incident have appeared across social media – however, Channel 4 News cannot verify the footage independently. The New York Police Department has so far not responded to a Channel 4 News request for its response to the allegations. Protesters say they want to show their anger at, among other things, corporate greed and social inequality. So far, it is reported more than 100 people have been arrested... Police tactics have been compared to those used during the 2004 Republican convention when the NYPD made sweeping arrests of several hundred demonstrators before dropping charges against almost all of them... The alleged mace incident is the latest clash between campaigners and police since the occupation began on 17 September. Over the past few days, police barricades have prevented protesters from reaching the United Nations where the general assembly has been meeting.

from dpa: Former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich was on Monday found guilty on 17 of 20 corruption charges in connection with trying to sell the Senate seat held by US President Barack Obama before he took office. Blagojevich was found guilty last year of making false statements to federal investigators, but the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the other counts, setting the stage for a second trial.

He was found guilty of racketeering, extortion, soliciting a bribe and conspiracy. Some of those charges included shakedowns of a children's hospital and a horse racing executive. He was acquitted on one count of shaking down a construction executive and a verdict was not reached on two other counts, the Chicago Tribune reported. The newspaper reported he faces a significant prison sentence.

Leaving the Chicago courtroom, Blagojevich said he was 'very disappointed' by the verdicts. 'I, frankly, am stunned,' said Blagojevich, who has professed his innocence.

Blagojevich, 54, had been accused of trying to sell Obama's seat after he was caught on wiretap by federal investigators during a previous investigation. As governor, he had the power to appoint Obama's successor in the Senate until an election could be held be held.

Blagojevich, a Democrat, was arrested in December 2008 - weeks after Obama won the presidential election - after being recorded in a profanity-laced conversation describing the Senate vacancy as a 'golden' asset for which he was seeking political or financial returns. The Illinois General Assembly impeached Blagojevich the following January and removed him from office.

chicago's willis tower: on 'the ledge' with echoes of the world trade center

There's growing chatter in the alternative media about the question: "Will There Be A New False Flag Attack On Chicago's Sears Tower?" In the past, we have covered the Tower's connections to Silverstein, Emanuel & the Private Intelligence Complex. But now there may be a new piece to add to the puzzle.

While looking through the print edition of yesterday's New York Times, an article on C1 caught my attention: "Suspended in Space, 103 Stories Over Chicago". It's a travel piece about the renovation of the Skydeck at Sears/Willis Tower and how 'The Ledge' has become a tourist attraction. This should raise a red (false) flag with you if - that is, if you have a degree in 9/11 folklore.

In the months leading up to 9/11, there was an event known as 'The B Thing' which allegedly involved building an observation deck on the 91st floor of World Trade Center Tower #1. This labyrinthine story is covered in great detail by Jonathan Elinoff's article: "Art Students in WTC Connected to Israeli Intelligence Service". Is this another case of predictive programming, that "subtle form of psychological conditioning provided by the media to acquaint the public with planned societal changes"? Or are we just chasing phantoms?

Suffice it to say: the eerie similarities, meta or otherwise, between the Willis & World Trade Center Towers keep growing as we approach the 10th anniversary of 9/11. And since this story seems to have gone unnoticed in the alternative media, we were excited to break it for you on the June 1st episode of 'The Bob Tuskin Show'.

letters claim al-CIAda has nukes hidden across america

from the intel hub: 25 letters that claim nuclear bombs are hidden throughout the United States have been sent to multiple investigators and citizens in the Chicago area. The letter inside said, “The Al-Qaeda organization has planted 160 nuclear bombs throughout the U.S. in schools, stadiums, churches, stores, financial institutions and government buildings.” It also said, “This is a suicide mission for us,” reported CBS Chicago.

While this news may be startling to many, it is no surprise to those in the alternative media. The idea of nukes in the United States has run rampant for years, with many believing rogue elements of our government will actually use these nukes within the United States to create enough chaos to initiate a world government. In 2002 the right wing news organization World Net Daily reported that Bin Laden had snuck over 20 suitcase nukes into the United States... This report was one of the first out of a long line of fear mongering reports that have been used to plant the idea of Al Qaeda nuking us into the mind of everyday American citizens. Most remember the “missing nukes” report that broke in 2007... The story was first reported by the Military Times, after military servicemen leaked the story...

The fact that the Pentagon and the CIA run Al Qaeda, have dined with top “terrorist” Anwar al-Awlaki, and openly fund Al Qaeda seems to be unimportant to the corporate controlled media. This isn’t a realistic option yet reports like this are used to trick ignorant Americans into hating Muslims even more. This also gives elements of our government the ability to say, “told you so” if or when a nuke detonates in an American city.

from israel national news: Former Obama White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has been elected Chicago's first Jewish mayor.

He faces a series of challenges, beginning with the fact that his last name is not Daley. His predecessor, Richard M. Daley, and his father, Richard J. Daley, have controlled the city of 2.69 million for 42 of the past 55 years. The current economic crisis in the United States has affected the Midwestern city as it has others, leading to an estimated budget deficit of some $600 million.

Nevertheless, Emanuel's popularity may stand him in good stead, at least initially: the 51-year-old former Congressman won 55 per cent of the vote in a field of six candidates, thus ending the need for a run-off in April. Gery J. Chico, former chief of staff to incumbent Mayor Richard M. Daley, his closest competitor, garnered less than half with only 24 percent.

Emanuel is known as a tough pragmatist and for his blunt manner of speaking. During his tenure as chief of staff in the Obama White House, he told an Israeli diplomat that the United States was “fed up” with Israel. Less than a year later, however, as he considered a run in the Chicago mayoral race, he told rabbis that the Obama administration had “screwed up the messaging” and failed to convey its support for the Jewish State.

President Barack Obama called Tuesday night to congratulate Emanuel, saying, “As a Chicagoan and a friend, I couldn't be prouder.”

hu's on first: west welcomes most favored nation, glimpses future

obama formally welcomes chinese president hu jintao
from latimes: President Obama welcomed Chinese President Hu Jintao to the White House on Wednesday morning in a formal ceremony marked by the fanfare reserved only for a visiting head of state... The carefully choreographed ceremony began against the backdrop of music by a Navy brass band. In a display of unity, the South Portico of the White House was lined with alternating Chinese and American flags...

With contingents from the U.S. Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Army gathered on the South Lawn, Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama - he wearing a red tie and she wearing red gloves - greeted Hu as his limousine arrived. A 21-gun salute - set off by cannons along Constitution Avenue - was heard as the Chinese national anthem played. Obama and Hu greeted a small crowd of Chinese students and other guests, shaking hands along a rope line before making their remarks.

from kurt nimmo: Once again, according to the government and the compliant corporate media, Muslim cave dwellers are attempting to kill us because they hate our freedom.

Last week the airwaves and internet were besieged with a fabulous story of al-Qaeda miscreants in Yemen attempting to send toner cartridge bombs to synagogues in Chicago.

“The packages from Yemen contained chemical explosives camouflaged as printer cartridges and wired to be detonated by a cell phone, and were found in Dubai and England on Friday only after the U.S. received a tip from Saudi Arabia,” reported the Los Angeles Times.

In response, bureaucrats said we’ll have to get used to more obtrusive airport “pat-downs” and screening of incoming foreign parcels using a network of government-certified private screeners and companies as well as its own inspectors at about 18 gateway airports around the country, according to the Transportation Security Administration. Terror is a growth industry, undoubtedly.

But wait a minute. There is a problem with all of this and, as usual, the government has not done a very good job of making the latest al-CIA-duh plot credible, at least not for people who bother to pay attention.

According to Mohammed al-Shaibah, Air Cargo Director for Yemenia Airways, “there is no evidence to prove that this package came through Yemen.” He said there were no UPS or DHL cargo flights from Yemen within a 48 hour period prior to the supposed terror attack.

Naturally, a news search using the term Mohammed al-Shaibah produces no results from the New York Times, the Washington Post, or the rest of the corporate Mockingbird media.

from allgov: In what might be called reverse embedding, the U.S Army has been placing soldiers who conduct psychological warfare at local television news stations and newspapers, in order to pick up media skills for their work.

Through internships and fellowships, the Army’s Training with Industry program has allowed members of the 4th Psychological Operations group to work at WRAL, a CBS affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina, and WTOC, a CBS affiliate in Savannah, Georgia. The experience provides soldiers with knowledge about broadcasting which then can be used to sway foreign enemies or populations.

The Army previously placed PSYOPS troops in CNN Money’s newsroom in 2000. But after word got out about it, CNN pulled the plug on the internships and admitted the move had been a mistake. The Chicago Tribune also hosted Marine Corps officers from 2002 until 2004.

In June the Army announced that it would be replacing the term “psychological operations” to the less ominous-sounding “Military Information Support Operations.”
