election day 2010: voting for a restraining order?

election day 2010: voting for a restraining order?from mike whitney: Barack Obama rode into office in January, 2008 on a wave of optimism. By the time the ballots are counted in Tuesday's midterm elections, Obama's personal approval ratings will have fallen to historic lows and he will be universally recognized as the man who brought ruin on the Democratic party.

While still popular among party loyalists, the president has become radioactive among independents--the critical group of “swing voters” who have fled Camp Obama en masse frustrated with both the lack of audacity and/or change. No one figured they were electing George W. Bush to a third term in office when they cast their vote for the inspiring senator from Illinois two years ago. But that's what they got. To say that supporters are disappointed in Obama's performance, is a gross understatement of the pessimism that's spread like Kudzu among the party faithful. People have become increasingly cynical as they realize that neither party provides a path to real structural change. The system is broken; Obama has merely exposed the rot at the heart of American democracy.

rallies have always been used to manipulate the masses

rallies have always been used to manipulate the massesfrom kenny's sideshow: I finally saw the 1988 movie "They Live" today and realized what Peter Chamberlin is saying with his blog title 'There Are No Sunglasses'. I also saw a little of the Stewart and Colbert sanity/fear rally and you don't need the sunglasses to see through it.

The lefty counterpoint to the righty Glenn Beck hijacked Tea Party types. The lefties may be a little more fun but no less propagandizing. It's breaking us down into two groups that oppose each other as if that's all there is.

But most of us don't actually fit into this false duplicity. We're the ones who don't like Stewart and Obama, Beck and Palin. Using conventional terms we as individuals are a mix of conservative, liberal, moderate, radical or what ever you want to call it. Sort of 'mongrels' that don't fit what the media wants us to be.

A real rally for America would be anti-war, anti-imperialism and most definitely anti-criminal government and anti-wall street/banker syndicate. Basically it would be looking for the truth wherever it leads us. We haven't seen much of that in these controlled for TV gatherings.

Rallies have always been used to manipulate the masses. The crowd cheers "hooray for us" and goes home satiated. A lot of good people want to be involved, a lot of good people fall for the deceptions.

cnn's rick sanchez out after suggesting jews run the media

cnn's rick sanchez out after suggesting jews run the mediafrom politico: Rick Sanchez lost his job at CNN on Friday, just 24 hours after giving a satellite radio interview in which he called Jon Stewart a “bigot” and suggested that Jews run CNN and other media companies.

"Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company," CNN said in a statement. "We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well." CNN said it would broadcast CNN Newsroom from 3-5pm for the foreseeable future.

The CNN host has been the frequent butt of "Daily Show" jokes, which may have contributed to his ill-considered comments yesterday on Pete Dominick’s satellite radio show. First, Sanchez called Jon Stewart a “bigot,” though he walked the comments back a bit later.

Dominick: How is he a bigot?
Sanchez: I think he looks at the world through, his mom, who was a school teacher, and his dad, who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I’m so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could ever imagine.
Dominick: What group is he bigoted towards?
Sanchez: Everybody else who’s not like him. Look at his show, I mean, what does he surround himself with?
Then, he suggested that CNN is run by Jews.
I’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority? Yeah.
CNN fired Octavia Nasr this summer for a tweet expressing respect for a Lebanese cleric tied to Hezbollah who had died.

white house drafts executive order to allow indefinite detentions
white house drafts executive order to allow indefinite detentionsfrom raw story: The Obama administration, fearing a battle with Congress that could stall plans to close Guantanamo, has drafted an executive order that would reassert presidential authority to incarcerate terrorism suspects indefinitely, according to three senior government officials with knowledge of White House deliberations. Such an order would embrace claims by former president George W. Bush that certain people can be detained without trial for long periods under the laws of war. Obama advisers are concerned that bypassing Congress could place the president on weaker footing before the courts and anger key supporters, the officials said.

obama issues signing statement on $106b war billfrom the hill: President Obama signed the $106 billion war-spending bill into law Friday, but not without taking a page from his predecessor and ignoring a few elements in the legislation. Obama included a five-paragraph signing statement with the bill, including a final paragraph that outlined his objections to at least four areas of the bill. President George W. Bush was heavily criticized for his use of signing statements, declaring he'd ignore some elements of legislation by invoking presidential prerogative. The Obama administration announced in the statement it would disregard provisions of the legislation that, among other things, would compel the Obama administration to pressure the World Bank to strengthen labor and environmental standards and require the Treasury department to report to Congress on the activities of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF).

low-flying air force one lookalike freaks out nyc

low-flying air force one lookalike freaks out nycfrom raw replay: A number of buildings in New York City were evacuated Monday morning after a trio of low-flying planes flew near the Statue of Liberty. “An Air Force One lookalike, the backup plane for the one regularly used by the president, flew low over Manhattan on Monday morning, accompanied by two F-16 fighters, so Air Force photographers could take pictures,” the New York Times reports. “But a lack of awareness about the flyover led to the evacuation of several buildings in Lower Manhattan and Jersey City, N.J., and perplexed officials at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and other authorities were inundated with calls from anxious ferry passengers, office workers and residents in the area.” RAW STORY has more details here. This video is from MyFoxNY.com, broadcast Apr. 27, 2009.

air force photo op evokes 9/11 for new yorkers

lawmakers express outrage over nyc plane scare
from raw replay: Sen. Chuck Schumer is outraged that the FAA didn’t notify citizen of New York City before a plane used as Air Force One buzzed the city. “It is absolutely outrageous and appalling to think that the FAA would plan such a photo shoot and not warn the public, knowing full well New Yorkers still have the vivid memory of 9/11 sketched in their minds,” he said during a press conference. This video is from MSNBC’s News Live, broadcast Apr. 27, 2009.

white house apologizes over air force one 'blunder'
from dpa: The White House issued an apology Monday after a presidential plane flying low over New York for a photo shoot left people on the ground panicking over worries a terrorist attack was underway. The massive Boeing 747, shadowed by an F-16 fighter jet, was passing over the Hudson River at times at altitudes lower than some buildings in downtown Manhattan. Hundreds of people rushed out of their offices and onto the street, fearing another September 11, 2001-style attack. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg expressed outrage that he had not been informed of the flight, although the Air Force and Federal Aviation Administration said local police had been informed.

update: manhattan fly-over & the national security state
from kurt nimmo: CBS in New York reports that the Pentagon knew its photo-op flyover above Manhattan would raisepublic concern” and frighten New Yorkers but pulled off the stunt anyway. “Federal officials knew that sending two fighter jets and Air Force One to buzz ground zero and Lady Liberty might set off nightmarish fears of a 9/11 replay, but they still ordered the photo-op kept secret from the public,” reports Marcia Kramer WCBS TV.

selection '08: scenarios, upsets & civil/star wars

luntz: 'I cannot foresee' scenario where mccain wins
from raw replay: BBC’s Washington correspondent Rachel Harvey predicts how the two presidential candidates will be spending the final days of the campaign and Republican pollster Frank Luntz analyses the latest polls. Luntz said, “I cannot foresee a scenario that John McCain is elected the President of the United States.”

erica jong: obama loss will cause civil war & blood in the streets
from ny observer: It seems that the final days of the presidential campaign have made Erica Jong and her friends more than a little anxious. A few days ago, Jong, the author and self-described feminist, gave an interview to the Italian daily Corriere della Sera, the choicest bits of which were brought to my attention by the reliably sharp-eyed Christian Rocca, the U.S. correspondent of Il Foglio, who published excerpts on his Camillo blog. Basically, Jong says her fear that Obama might lose the election has developed into an "obsession. A paralyzing terror. An anxious fever that keeps you awake at night." She also says that her friends Jane Fonda and Naomi Wolf are extremely worried that Obama will be sabotaged by Republican dirty tricks, and that if an Obama loss indeed comes to pass, the result will be a second American Civil War.

kristol jokes mccain will upset obama
from raw replay: Jon Stewart talked with Bill Kristol about John McCain’s chances of winning the presidential election. This video is from Comedy Central’s Comedy Central, broadcast October 30, 2008.

cnn beams star wars technology for election night
from ny observer: Tuesday, at CNN's Election Center in New York, an Obama campaign strategist will be in the studio to comment on the incoming voting results. Only he'll be … (wait for it) in 3-D! As a hologram! Instead of the normal flat-screen version of talking heads, the Obama spokesperson's image will be projected from Chicago and into the New York studio - in a 360 view. CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer will essentially be talking to the strategist just like when Princess Leia sent Obi-Wan Kenobi a hologram message that he was her only hope. Only there will be talk about Ohio, rather than Alderaan. USA Today has the story and they say CNN also plans to conduct similar holographic interviews with McCain representatives in Phoenix. How will it work? CNN will be shooting with 44 cameras at each location simultaneously (so they can capture their subject at every angle). Twenty computers at the site, combined with the New York office's hardware, will process and project the image in the studio. The subjects will see Mr. Blitzer and other CNN-ers on TVs at the locations so they can communicate with them properly. CNN has been on top of their gadget game for the election. The New York Times had this story in April about their enormous, nifty touch-sensitive map that allowed CNN political reporter John King to zoom in on specific cities and towns to display election and polling results. They finally found a way to give the ol' numbers story some visual spunk.

bush's bankster bailout bullshit (& more)

from ap: President Bush on Wednesday warned Americans and lawmakers reluctant to pass a historic financial rescue plan that failing to act fast risks wiping out retirement savings, rising foreclosures, lost jobs, closed business and ‘a long and painful recession.’ He spoke just after inviting Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain, one of whom will inherit the mess in four months, and key congressional leaders to an extraordinary White House meeting Thursday to hammer out a compromise.

video: bush failures could make him ‘last president’
from raw replay: The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart and John Oliver report on the looming financial crisis and proposed bailout plan. This video is from Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, broadcast September 23, 2008.

video: ‘arrest bush/cheney’ banner at national archives
from raw replay: Anti-war protesters hung a banner today at the National Archives calling for the arrest of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. The 22-foot-long banner in red, white and black reads, "Defend Our Constitution - Arrest Bush / Cheney! - War Criminals!" The protesters, perched on a ledge at the historic building in Washington, D.C., additionally claim to be on a hunger strike. According to a press release, the five are military combat veterans from the anti-war group Veterans For Peace who intend to stay on the ledge and fast for a full day "in remembrance of those who have perished and those still suffering from the crimes of the Bush administration." An Archives spokesperson had no comment when asked if authorities were planning to take action to stop the peaceful protest. This video is from YouTube, broadcast September 23, 2008.

chatter about west coast 'incident' at all time high
chatter about an 'incident' on west coast at all time highfrom wayne madsen report: Chatter picked up by WMR's sources in the nation's capital and in California point to unusual events that could be a prelude to a 9/11-like false flag "incident" during the Labor Day weekend, possibly one focused on the San Francisco Bay Area.

The FBI in Seattle, as well as the Washington Joint Analytical Center (WJAC), have asked for the public's help in identifying two men spotted aboard Washington state ferries exhibiting unusual behavior. A number of ferry passengers have reported the two men showing strange behavior.

ron paul wins five straw polls
from crimes & corruption: Whether it's Washington, Alabama, New Hampshire, or South Carolina, the message is the same: We want our freedom, our rights, our money, and our country back, and we're willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen. Thousands are driving from all over their states to show support resulting in straw poll victories for Ron Paul with percentages as high as 81%. Dr. Paul has placed in a total of 16 straw polls now, tying him with Romney and thrusting him far beyond Giuliani in terms of visible support, and not a word about the trend can be heard from the mainstream media.

pentagon to suspend anti-terror databasefrom ap: The Pentagon said Tuesday that it will shut down an anti-terror database that has been criticized for improperly storing information on peace activists and others whose actions posed no threat.

It will be closed on Sept. 17 and information collected subsequently on potential terror or security threats to Defense Department facilities or personnel will be sent by Pentagon officials to an FBI database known as Guardian, according to Army Col. Gary Keck, a Pentagon spokesman.

daily show: 'america to the rescue'
from raw story: Jon Stewart offered a Daily Show-style history of American arms policy in the Middle East on Wednesday's program. "Obviously, the Iraq War is very complicated," he began. "It's another reason why Barack Obama's foreign policy inexperience is going to be an important issue in this campaign. You can't have a newbie overthrowing the delicate balance that we have engineered and maintained in this complex region."

ron paul on the daily show

from you tube/stop the lie: Another excellent interview.
After watching, you can "digg" the story here...

from raw story: Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) appeared on Monday's Daily Show to talk about his underdog campaign for the presidency. He reiterated his positions that we should never have gone into Iraq and that we need to follow the Constitution, saying "I don't believe in spreading liberty with guns."

"You're a guy that would really get rid of a lot of our government," Steward said. "Yeah, I think that'd be true," Paul responded. "I happen to think that the market can deliver any service better than the government can."
