coverup of veteran suicide risk

from raw replay: Did the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs try to cover up an epidemic of suicides? CBS News reports that “attorneys for veterans rights groups accused the VA of nothing less than a cover-up, deliberately concealing the real risk of suicide among veterans.” A CBS reporter cites 12,000 attempted suicides by veterans per year, supporting the charge that the VA has an epidemic on its hands.

from consortium news: Senior officials at the Veterans Administration debated internally how to downplay evidence of a stunning number of suicides and suicide attempts among veterans who were treated or had sought help at VA hospitals around the country, according to newly disclosed internal VA e-mails.
