Cronkite was one of eight journalists selected by the U.S. Army Air Forces to fly bombing raids over Germany in a B-17 Flying Fortress. He also landed in a glider with the 101st Airborne in Operation Market-Garden and covered the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he covered the Nuremberg trials, and served as the United Press main reporter in Moscow for two years. Some of the historic events that were entwined with Cronkite's CBS Evening News broadcast life (1962–81) include the Dallas-based JFK assassination of 1963, the Dexter, Michigan UFO series of 1966, the Memphis-based MLK assassination in 1968, and the lunar landing of 1969.
carnaby’s widow sues, claims husband was member of cia from khou: In April, 2008, Roland Carnaby led Houston Police on a 122 mile-per-hour chase that ended in the Galleria, all the while claiming to be a CIA agent. When he finally pulled over, police shot and killed him after he reached for something shiny. Carnaby’s widow, Susan, has filed a civil suit against the city in federal court and, in documents reviewed by 11 News, claims Carnaby was in fact working for the CIA. “The FBI and the CIA regularly fail to disclose the truth to the Houston Police Department,” one court filing said. In another, Carnaby’s attorney says he plans to call a former Secret Service agent to testify “with respect to Mr. Carnaby’s work on behalf of the Secret Service and other federal agencies as a contract informant and operative.” Randall Kallinen, Carnaby’s attorney, says he definitely was a CIA agent.
from the fbi vault: the complete saddam interviews from raw story: The National Security Archive has made public the complete set of formal and informal interviews carried out by the FBI with Saddam Hussein following his capture in Iraq in late 2003. RAW STORY reported last week on the emergence of documents that showed the Bush administration's "enhanced interrogation techniques" were not needed to get Saddam to talk - instead, the FBI chose to build a rapport with the ex-dictator, a strategy that resulted in Saddam eventually opening up to his interrogators. Now, the National Security Archive has released the FBI's records of 20 interviews and four informal discussions between agents and Saddam, which took place between February and June of 2004 in the detention cell at Baghdad International Airport where Saddam was held. In the documents, "Saddam denied any connections to the 'zealot' Osama bin Laden, cited North Korea as his most likely ally in a crunch, and shared President George W. Bush's hostility towards the 'fanatic' Iranian mullahs," the archive's press release states.
bilderberg fears losing control in chaos-plagued world from paul joseph watson: Investigative journalist Daniel Estulin, whose information from inside Bilderberg has routinely proven accurate, states that the global elite’s plan to completely destroy the economy and ultimately lower global population by two thirds has stoked fears even within Bilderberg itself that the fallout from such chaos could ultimately result in the globalists losing their control over the world. In a telephone interview, Estulin re-iterated his original points about Bilderberg’s 2009 agenda, which were released in a pre-meeting booklet to members. These include the notion that investors, whipped up into a false state of euphoria by the belief that the economy is recovering, are being suckered into ploughing their money back into the system as a set up for “massive losses and searing financial pain in the months ahead” as the stock market reverses its uptrend and plummets to new lows.

Initially setting out to cover the event in a satirical way, Skelton left Greece yesterday chilled to the bone about how he had been harassed, detained and stalked for days on end by authorities merely for taking photographs of the hotel where Bilderberg members were staying. “My experience over the last several days in Greece has granted me a single, diamond-hard opinion,” writes Skelton, “That we must fight, fight, fight, now – right now, this second, with every cubic inch of our souls – to stop identity cards.”

yet ignores the bilderberg group completely from paul joseph watson: ABC News today [may20] devoted a prominently featured three page story to a “secret meeting” of rich philanthropists which took place earlier this month in New York, and yet one of the biggest news corporations in America was completely silent during a far more important meeting of around 150 of the world’s powerbrokers at the Bilderberg conference last week. At time of press, the ABC News story is the second top story on the ABCNews.com website under the headline, America’s Richest Givers’ Secret Meeting. “Under a cloak of secrecy, some of the world’s wealthiest people gathered in an unprecedented meeting early this month in New York City possibly to coordinate strategies for giving their vast fortunes to charity in the midst of the financial crisis,” begins the report, before descending into a deluge of fawning idolatry about how people like David Rockefeller, Bill Gates and Ted Turner, who has repeatedly called for world population to be reduced by a shocking 95% as well as a one child policy instituted in the west, are committed to saving the poor from the ravages of the economic crisis with their benign acts of philanthropy. The report states that the meeting is “enough to spark the imaginations of conspiracy theorists everywhere,” linking to a previous ABC News report that implies people who believe that powerful individuals conspire to rule the world in secret are probably mentally ill. The most vomit inducing paragraph of the whole article arrives when ABC asks, “There remain as many questions about the meeting’s details as there are about the logistics behind its organization. How did some of the world’s most public figures coordinate their schedules, travel, and security with no one in media knowing about it?” Well how indeed did they manage to do that I wonder? 150+ of the global elite manage to do it on a routine basis every single year without barely a whimper from the corporate media, despite the location of the Bilderberg meeting leaking in advance every time. They manage to do it because the corporate media was castrated decades ago and is merely a PR machine for the establishment, which is why they dutifully follow orders not to report on what would otherwise be a gargantuan story of worldwide interest in the form of the secret Bilderberg Group meetings. ABC News is owned by the Walt Disney Company, Vice Chairman of which is Roy Disney, nephew of Walt Disney himself. Roy Disney is a Bilderberg member, having attended the secretive cabal’s 1999 conference in Sintra, Portugal.
fanta has 300x more pesticide than tap water from daily mail: Fizzy drinks sold by Coca-Cola in Britain have been found to contain pesticides at up to 300 times the level allowed in tap or bottled water. A worldwide study found pesticide levels in orange and lemon drinks sold under the Fanta brand, which is popular with children, were at their highest in the UK. The research team called on the Government, the industry and the company to act to remove the chemicals and called for new safety standards to regulate the soft drinks market. The industry denies children are at risk and insists that the levels found by researchers based at the University of Jaen in southern Spain are not harmful.
merck seeks fda approval for gardasil in boys from wsj: Merck is asking federal regulators to expand the use of its human papillomavirus vaccine to boys and young men. The company has asked the FDA to approve the Gardasil vaccine’s use in males ages 9 to 26 years to prevent genital warts and other lesions, CNBC’s Mike Huckman reported. In 2006, the FDA approved giving the vaccine to girls and women of those ages. We talked with a Merck spokeswoman who pointed to studies showing Gardasil’s effectiveness in young males. But the request will likely renew questions about Gardasil’s cost-effectiveness, especially with a price tag of $360 for a three-dose regimen. In August, Harvard researchers suggested the vaccine wasn’t worth the cost in older women likely to have been exposed to HPV by the time they were to get vaccinated. Merck has also asked the FDA to expand Gardasil’s use to women ages 27 to 45 years. The vaccine is a key product for Merck, which estimates sales this year of as much as $1.6 billion. But sales have slowed, down 4% in the third quarter compared to a year earlier.
terrorists could enlist '6-legged soldiers' in bio-attack from danger room: Terrorists could easily contrive an "insect-based" weapon to import an exotic disease, according to an entomologist who's promoting a book on the subject. Jeffrey Lockwood, an entomologist at the University of Wyoming, is on the talk show circuit to promote his new book, Six-legged Soldiers: Using Insects as Weapons of War. He told BBC Radio 4's Today program that planning a bio-terror attack using insects would "probably be much easier" than developing nuclear or chemical weapons. 'Today' does not post the transcript, but the Daily Telegraph quotes him as saying: "It would be a relatively easy and simple process ... A few hundred dollars and a plane ticket and you could have a pretty good stab at it."
Nothing like a little bio-warfare scare to drum up sales for your book. Military historian Max Hastings, for one, gave Lockwood's book a less-than-stellar review this weekend in the London Sunday Times. But he also noted:
"The last section of Lockwood's book is the most plausible and interesting, because it addresses the risks of biological terrorism in our own times. In particular, the author speculates about the consequences if terrorists were to broadcast Aedes aegypti, the mosquito that carries the yellow fever virus. The consequences of a yellow fever epidemic in America, where scarcely anyone is inoculated against the disease, could be devastating."
newsflash! georgia fired first from times online: Two former British military officers are expected to give crucial evidence against Georgia when an international inquiry is convened to establish who started the country’s bloody five-day war with Russia in August. Ryan Grist, a former British Army captain, and Stephen Young, a former RAF wing commander, are said to have concluded that, before the Russian bombardment began, Georgian rockets and artillery were hitting civilian areas in the breakaway region of South Ossetia every 15 or 20 seconds. Their accounts seem likely to undermine the American-backed claims of President Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia that his little country was the innocent victim of Russian aggression and acted solely in self-defence.
russian nuke sub accident claims 20 lives from danger room: An accident on board a Russian nuclear submarine has claimed at least 20 lives, the worst submarine disaster in nearly a decade. According to Russian news reports, the ship in question is the K-152 Nerpa, an Akula-class attack submarine. The accident occurred during sea trials in the Pacific Ocean; Russian news agency RIA-Novosti reports the incident was caused by the "unsanctioned activation" of the boat's fire-extinguishing system. The sub returned to Bolshoi Kamen, a port in Russia's Far East, the BBC adds. Over 200 individuals were on board, including civilian shipbuilding contractors. RIA-Novosti reports that incident happened in the boat's forward compartment; the nuclear reactor was not affected and radiation levels were described as "normal." A torpedo accident on the Russian submarine Kursk in 2000 claimed the lives of 118 sailors. The accident - and the botched response - were a public relations disaster for then-Russian President Vladimir Putin in his first year in office. The Nerpa incident comes as Russia reasserts its military power and prepares to overhaul its nuclear forces; Russia is currently sending a naval squadron to Venezuela to take part in a military exercise. al-CIAda 'plotting new attacks on US' from presstv: America's nemesis Osama Bin Laden is reportedly planning a new terror attack against the US that would 'outdo by far' the 9/11 attacks. A source close to the al-Qaeda leadership in Yemen has warned in a report that a new attack against the US will aim 'to change the world [both] politically and economically'. The report published by an Arabic-language newspaper in London, Al-Quds Al-Arabi, claimed that Bin Laden is closely supervising preparations for the attack, which will be far greater than those of 9/11.
plans for auschwitz found in berlin apartment from afp: Original plans for the construction of the Nazi extermination camp of Auschwitz, including a gas chamber and crematorium, have been found in a Berlin apartment, a newspaper reported Saturday. The daily Bild published copies of some of the 28 plans, which the head of Germany's federal archives, Hans-Dieter Krekamp, called "authentic proof of the systematically planned genocide of the Jews of Europe." Bild gave no indication of where, when or by whom the plans were found.

He was driving to the factory with his father that traumatic August day in 1962. Police cordons surrounded the buildings at 14 Aswan Street in the Cairo suburb of Heliopolis. As Bigio and his father nervously stepped up the stairs, a policeman barked that the government had nationalized the business. "Give me the keys," he demanded. Once inside the offices, policemen and soldiers demanded the keys to the vault as well.
The nightmare of dispossession suffered by approximately one million Jews throughout the Arab world had finally descended upon the Bigio family. Brutal jailings and intimidation against Bigio family members culminated in a forced penniless exodus from the nation. The Bigios, along with a million other Jews across the Arab world, were expelled with just a few dollars in their pockets. The family fled to Canada. In the fifties, the Coca-Cola licensed bottler in Egypt expanded greatly, the plant was moved to a nearby location, and in 1959 Coca-Cola in Atlanta signed a major license agreement with the Bigios to produce the bottle caps.
the mystery of lost US nuclear bomb from bbc: The United States abandoned a nuclear weapon beneath the ice in northern Greenland following a crash in 1968, a BBC investigation has found. Its unique vantage point - perched at the top of the world - has meant that Thule Air Base has been of immense strategic importance to the US since it was built in the early 1950s, allowing a radar to scan the skies for missiles coming over the North Pole. The Pentagon believed the Soviet Union would take out the base as a prelude to a nuclear strike against the US and so in 1960 began flying "Chrome Dome" missions. Nuclear-armed B52 bombers continuously circled over Thule - and could head straight to Moscow if they witnessed its destruction. Greenland is a self-governing province of Denmark but the carrying of nuclear weapons over Danish territory was kept secret. But on 21 January 1968, one of those missions went wrong.

from upi: Followers of Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong managed to shutdown the sole bottler of Coke in Nepal over an ongoing employment dispute.
The Times of India reported that since Saturday, a Maoist labor union has effectively shut down two bottling plants owned by Bottlers Nepal in an attempt to force the Coke producer to rehire 55 contract workers.
The 55 workers had been recently laid off from plants in the Nepalese cities of Kathmandu and Bharatpur, ultimately leading to the labor standoff.
The movement by the Maoist group against worker exploitation comes as Coke is beginning an international mobile campaign aimed at promoting its carbonated products.
The standoff also marks the second such occurrence in the area for a soft drink company after Pepsi recently encountered a similar incident.
The paper said earlier this month, Varun Beverages, Nepal's Pepsi bottler, lost nearly a week of production after a Maoist union held back workers seeking better facilities and permanent positions.
