support ground zero & purchase this episode! from clyde lewis: My show has taken on this heavy cloak of responsibility lately. The responsibility has been firmly planted in the worry that I could very well have to become unpopular and call out disinformation even when it offends the very audience that wants to believe in the prevailing theory instead of the compelling evidence to the contrary. It used to be that the speculation surrounding the story helped produce thought forms leading to the educated guess. Now the speculations are loaded with disinformation that can create a schism and the snag will kill any and all serious investigation and intellectual honesty about what really is happening. The art of disinformation is there to fine tune your paranoia.
no new york: obama to spend 9/11 anniversary in virginia from politico: President Barack Obama plans to observe the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks with a visit to the Pentagon ... White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters Tuesday. But Obama has no plans to visit New York City on the eighth year since the World Trade Center was destroyed. "I believe he will go to the Pentagon that day, and go to the memorial there and speak after that," Gibbs said in his morning gaggle. "But we have not announced more details than that." Asked after the gaggle if the president has any plans to visit New York City for the occasion, a White House official told POLITICO he does not and that is unlikely to change. President George W. Bush marked the 9/11 anniversary with visits to lower Manhattan in 2002 and 2006. Last year, Obama and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), then Obama's rival for the presidency, both attended a memorial ceremony at the World Trade Center site as Bush dedicated a memorial at the Pentagon.
federal government to buy land for flight 93 memorial from cnn: Pennsylvania landowners around the September 11, 2001, crash site of Flight 93 have reached an agreement with the federal government allowing construction of a permanent memorial there, the government announced Monday. U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said the National Park Service has "reached agreements with all the landowners needed" to establish the permanent memorial for the 40 people killed in the terrorist hijacking nearly eight years ago. Salazar said the government will pay the landowners approximately $9.5 million.
bobcats over washington on 9/11: what were 2 mystery aircraft doing overhead the pentagon attack? from 9/11 blogger: Two military aircraft were flying at high altitude near the Pentagon around the time it was hit on 9/11, but the identities of these aircraft and what they were doing over the Pentagon are unknown.
The planes had the call signs "Bobcat 14" and "Bobcat 17." A partial transcript of air traffic controller communications reveals they were communicating with the control tower at Washington's Reagan National Airport, which is less than a mile from the Pentagon, between at least 9:31 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. on September 11. [1] (The attack on the Pentagon took place at 9:37 a.m. [2]) Radar data has shown that the two aircraft flew "in trail" (in single file, with one directly behind the other) at an altitude of 21,000 feet, and were overhead in the few minutes before the Pentagon was hit. [3]
LAUNCHED FROM DOVER AIR BASE It would seem essential to establish the exact identities of these aircraft and find out what they were doing in the vicinity of the Pentagon at such a critical time. Yet, eight years after the attacks took place, we still do not have this information. (The fact that these aircraft were near the Pentagon at the time it was hit is itself virtually unknown.)
According to a 9/11 Commission memorandum, "flight strips and other information" indicate that the two aircraft, Bobcat 14 and Bobcat 17, "originated out of Dover Air Force Base in Delaware." The memorandum added, "It is possible, but not confirmed, that they were Air Force corporate passenger jets." When questioned by the 9/11 Commission, Bob Lazar, the acting operations manager at Reagan Airport on September 11, said he "did not remember any aircraft with the call sign 'Bobcat' that hung out over the National airspace" that day. All he could say was that he did remember two aircraft "coming from the north, but he did not think that they entered National's airspace." [4]
OTHER AIRCRAFT NEAR THE PENTAGON Furthermore, there were at least two other military aircraft near the Pentagon at the time it was hit. A C-130 cargo plane that took off from Andrews Air Force Base, which is 10 miles from the Pentagon, was airborne by 9:33 a.m., and was seen by numerous witnesses above the Pentagon just after the attack there. [5] Its pilot reportedly witnessed the explosion from the Pentagon crash. [6]
And television news reporters described a "white jet" plane that was "circling the White House" a few minutes after the Pentagon was hit. [7] (The White House is about three miles from the Pentagon.) Two government sources familiar with the incident later told CNN that the plane was a military aircraft, but its details were classified. An analysis by CNN suggested the aircraft was an E-4B, which is a militarized version of a Boeing 747 that is used as a flying command post. [8] One such aircraft is known to have taken off from an airfield outside Washington, DC, shortly before the Pentagon was hit. [9]
Considering the historical significance of the 9/11 attacks, which have had devastating consequences that affect us to this day, it is essential that important details surrounding those attacks be thoroughly investigated. We therefore need to know exactly what the two aircraft--Bobcat 14 and Bobcat 17--were, and why they were flying above the Pentagon around the time it was attacked on September 11.
outrage after ad shows 9/11 attacks - with dozens of planes from raw story: A television ad made by the Brazilian unit of ad agency DBB made its rounds on the Internet Wednesday, sparking outrage from viewers and the organization the ad was originally supposed to be for. The ad shows a graphical recreation of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, followed by an additional scenario showing dozens of planes descending on New York City. It surfaced after winning a nonprofit award. The tag line? "The tsunami killed 100 times more people than 9/11. The planet is brutally powerful. Respect it. Preserve it." "We are just utterly appalled," WWF spokeswoman Leslie Aun told the New York Daily news on Wednesday. "This ad is not something that anyone in our organization would ever have signed off on." DBB Brazil said the "team" that made the ad -- produced late last year -- is no longer with the company.
green adviser's past stirs trouble for white house at critical time from foxnews: President Obama's "green jobs" adviser could become a mounting liability for the Obama administration, as the latest revelation about Van Jones shows his belief that the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks may have been an inside job. Jones joined the "9/11 truther" movement by signing a statement in 2004 calling for then-New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and others to launch an investigation into evidence that suggests "people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war." The statement asked a series of critical questions hinting at Bush administration involvement in the attacks and called for "deeper inquiry." It was also signed by former Rep. Cynthia McKinney and Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans.
video: police execute unarmed man in public; shot in back from mercury news: A BART police officer struggling to handcuff a 22-year-old man, stood up over the facedown Hayward resident and fired a single shot into his back while a handful of officers watched, a video taken by a train passenger apparently shows. The attorney for the family of Oscar Grant III, fatally shot by an unidentified BART officer early New Year’s Day, said Sunday he plans to file a $25 million lawsuit against the department and asked prosecutors to consider filing murder charges against the officer.
muslim family: 'paranoid' people got us booted from plane from raw story: Nine Muslims, including three children, were ordered off a domestic US flight after two other passengers heard them making what they thought were suspicious remarks about security, media said Friday [jan2]. The group, eight of whom are US citizens, was in Washington Thursday afternoon on an AirTran flight bound for Orlando, Florida where they were to attend a religious retreat, and were eventually cleared for travel by the FBI, according to the Washington Post. The airline and FBI characterized the incident as a misunderstanding, but AirTran reportedly refused to rebook the passengers, who paid for seats on another carrier.
airplane cigarette break sparks in-air brawl from threat level: You know all those warnings not to smoke in the airplane lavatory? Delta-owned Comair takes that very seriously. When a flight attendant caught a passenger lighting up on a November flight from New York to Savannah, Georgia, the pilot diverted to Raleigh to have the nicotine addict removed from the plane. The passenger, Henry McDowell, Jr., had already drawn the ire of his fellow travelers by being loud and aggressive before the flight, according to an FBI affidavit [44kb PDF], and for grumbling that the "airplane sucks." So when the plane changed course, the other passengers blamed McDowell. That's when things devolved into a flying cage match... McDowell was charged this week with interfering with a flight crew. I'd have just let the guy smoke.
massachusetts bank requires fingerprint to cash check from metrowest: Ariel Sarousi felt surprised and dismayed when asked to provide a fingerprint to cash a check at a Framingham Bank of America branch on Monday. The 25-year-old Framingham native, who lives in Virginia, brought a rent check to the Bank of America branch on Beacon Street. He does not have an account with the bank, but the check came from a Bank of America account. "They asked for an ID, which I provided, and after that they brought out an ink pad," Sarousi said. "I asked why, and they said they wanted to take a fingerprint. I said, 'Get out! Please!' and they said, 'No, we're serious."' Sarousi said he had other forms of identification and that should be enough to cash a check. "I said, 'You can't expect me to provide fingerprints to cash a check,"' Sarousi said. "I took my check and left.

uk police placed in all city schools from bbc: Every secondary school in Leeds is to have a dedicated police officer as part of a drive to cut crime. Eight of the city's 38 schools will have a full-time police presence. Another 16 officers will cover the remaining 30 schools. More than 250 offences were committed in Leeds schools in 2008, figures show. Although officers will be able to arrest and search pupils, West Yorkshire Police stressed they would focus on education not enforcement. The 24 officers involved in the project will support lessons on weapons and drugs awareness, citizenship and personal safety as well as tackling issues like bullying, absenteeism and truancy.

cia preparing to install military government in greece? from paul joseph watson: The increasingly violent riots in Greece could be the curtain raiser for a military coup d’etat and the installation of a new government more friendly to U.S. hegemony as a countermeasure to increasing Russian influence over the Balkan state. It wouldn’t be the first time the CIA has assisted in such a venture - they aided the 1967 installation of a U.S. friendly military junta known as the Regime of the Colonels ostensibly to prevent Greece from falling under Soviet control, a fascist cabal which was later overthrown in 1973. The coup was achieved with the active support of such groups as the LOK Special Forces, which was part of Operation Gladio, NATO-controlled black-ops forces that carried out false flag attacks across Europe to eliminate left-wing political organizations. Gladio tactics are again being employed with the current riots following the revelation that police masquerading as anarchists were committing acts of wanton violence to enflame tensions and provide a pretext for a brutal crackdown on legitimate demonstrators protesting against police brutality and the mishandling of the economic crisis. The agenda is again likely to be related to fears over increasing Russian influence in the region.
US soldier ordered to leave canada from ap: The first woman soldier to flee the U.S. military for Canada to avoid the Iraq war has been ordered deported along with her husband and children. Kimberly Rivera said Wednesday her requests to stay on humanitarian and compassionate grounds were rejected. Rivera served in Iraq in 2006 and came to Canada the following year after she refused redeployment. She lives in Toronto with her husband and three children - the youngest is six weeks old and Canadian born. Rivera says she'll discuss her options with her husband and supporters but feels she's come to the "end of the road." The family must leave Canada by Jan. 27 unless the order is reversed. The group War Resisters Support Campaign says four other resisters and their families face deportation in January alone.
more evidence of pentagon war against the internet from kurt nimmo: Further evidence has emerged revealing how the Pentagon is in the business of responding to blog posts critical of the U.S. government. Noah Shachtman, writing for Wired, posts an Air Force flowchart used for “counter-blogging” purposes. “In a twelve-point plan, put together by the emerging technology division of the Air Force’s public affairs arm, airmen are given guidance on how to handle ‘trolls,’ ‘ragers’ — and even well-informed online writers, too. It’s all part of an Air Force push to ‘counter the people out there in the blogosphere who have negative opinions about the U.S. government and the Air Force,’ Captain David Faggard says,” Shachtman writes. In the case of the Infowars and Prison Planet websites, Centcom operatives do not respond to trolls and ragers. In fact, many of them seem to be the most vociferous trolls and ragers. On October 16, 2006, Raw Story reported that the United States Central Command sent an email to bloggers on the subject of the GWOT, or so-called “global war on terror,” as part of the Pentagon’s “engagement operations.”
trans-texas corridor dead in name only from statesman: The Trans-Texas Corridor, as a name and as a guiding concept of the state's transportation future, is dead, Texas Department of Transportation Executive Director Amadeo Saenz told an audience of more than a thousand people Tuesday at an Austin hotel. But Saenz acknowledged that all elements of the original plan, including a tollway twin to Interstate 35, could be built as stand-alone projects if and when they are deemed necessary. Gov. Rick Perry in 2002 unveiled with great fanfare the corridor plan as an almost $200 billion blueprint for the state's transportation future and then took withering criticism for it in a tough 2006 re-election race. On Tuesday, he said, "The days of the Trans-Texas Corridor are over."
army sends 'dear john doe' letter to families of war dead from afp: The US Army apologized Wednesday for mistakenly sending letters to 7,000 families of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan with the salutation "Dear John Doe." The letter, which was mailed December 20, contained information about private organizations offering assistance to families who lost a soldier, but omitted specific names and addresses. "The salutation says 'Dear John Doe,' which was basically sort of a placeholder where the name of the individual or the recipient was supposed to be," said Paul Boyce, an army spokesman. Boyce said the error was not caught when the 7,000 letters were printed, sorted and sent out to family members.
Editor’s note: Note the lengths ABC goes to convince us that people who believe the government pulled off 9/11 and had Kennedy assassinated are akin to the guy who thinks the postal worker is after him. It has filed this “report” under “Health > Mind & Mood News.”
what's behind internet conspiracy empires? from abc news: A man standing on a street corner with a sign reading "the lizard people rule you all," or, "my neighbors are spying on me for the government" isn't likely to get many supporters.
But give that man a Web site template, or let him produce some slick videos on YouTube and, lo and behold, he may have thousands of people across the world supporting him. Such is the story of several extraordinarily popular conspiracy theorists and theories online today.
Take the victims of gang stalking - a subculture of people who think their friends and neighbors are all secret government spies ready to turn them over to the authorities. The movement has recently spawned gang stalking support groups, forums and advice Web sites.
Or take the former journalist and BBC sports announcer, David Icke, for example.
Icke was laughed out of the public eye in the early '90s when he started wearing only turquoise and explaining that voices had sent him on an important mission to save the earth. Decades later, Icke has written books, has fans in 47 countries and can gather a crowd of 2,500 people in a city simply by posting a date for a lecture on his Web site.
The cornerstone of Icke's theories is that a malicious race of lizard people - the "shadowy elite" - rules the world and all its political leaders primarily by controlling the media and orchestrating fear-mongering catastrophes, such as Sept. 11. Icke said he already has speeches lined up for 2009 in Los Angeles, Mexico, Croatia, New Zealand and Australia.
"I knew about the mainstream media, and that the mainstream media has a stunning level of myopia so that only that which is in the mainstream will be presented," said Icke. "What the Internet has done [is that it] has allowed information to flow outside of the myopia. ... The Internet has been absolutely essential."
The Internet has always been a forum for fringe ideas, but success like Icke's, and subcultures built on paranoid theories like gang stalkers, points to an understudied corner in psychiatry: Who are the people who believe such theories in the quiet of their homes, and what does such behavior mean for a person teetering on the edge of mental illness?
"It's not an area that has been studied very well," said Angus MacDonald, a spokesperson for the mental health charity NARSAD, and an associate professor of psychology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
