from cnn: Noted author and social activist Howard Zinndied of a heart attack Wednesday while traveling, his daughter, Myla Kabat-Zinn, said. Zinn, author of "A People's History of the United States," was 87. Kabat-Zinn said her father, who lived in Auburndale, Massachusetts, died while traveling in Santa Monica, California.
"A People's History of the United States," first published in 1980, tells a history not often in seen in other books - from the perspective of those not in a seat of power.
The book was the inspiration for a 2009 documentary, narrated by Zinn, called "The People Speak." The film highlighted people who spoke up for social change, according to the Web site of the History Channel, which aired the program...
Kabat-Zinn said of her father that he lived a "very full and exciting life" and that there were many social issues that were very important to him. Above all, she said, her father believed that there is no "just war."
Zinn's death on the day of President Obama's first State of the Union address was underscored by his contribution to a recently released special from The Nation magazine called "Obama at One."
"I've been searching hard for a highlight," he wrote. "The only thing that comes close is some of Obama's rhetoric; I don't see any kind of a highlight in his actions and policies."

Buddy Moore, Independent Candidate for US Senate in Colorado, asked Zinn if he would join him in voicing doubts about the official 9/11 story and in particular the demolition of the twin towers and Building 7. Zinn said he was skeptical of the official story but then stated, “I don’t know much about the situation and the truth is, I don’t care that much about it, that’s passed….that’s a diversion from what we really have to do,” adding that debating who was behind 9/11, “gets in the way of dealing with the immediate situation”. Moore attempted to ask Zinn a follow up question about allowing the perpetrators to go free but was largely shouted down by Zinn’s fawning army of left-wing sycophants.

Just as many people have warned, a series of attacks using nuclear "dirty bombs" kills thousands of Americans. Government intelligence agencies point to Iran, China and Russia as the source of the attacks. The president and Congress set in motion plans for war against the 3 giants. A war which will undoubtedly cost tens of trillions of dollars, kill thousands of Americans, and cause untold misery for years to come. Before we launch world war 3, ask yourself: would you care if Iran, China and Russia were really behind the attacks? Of course you would. Well, then you would also want to know whether Bin Laden was really behind 9/11, whether rogue elements within the U.S. allowed the attacks to succeed, or whether it was actually an "inside job". Think about it. If, like Howard Zinn, you say "I don't care if 9/11 is an inside job", you are really saying you don't care if future attacks are real attacks or false flag attacks intended to justify war against a concocted enemy. Is that what you're saying?

So we decided to attend his recent lecture at UQAM university to spread 9/11 truth, and welcome him to Montreal on behalf of the 9/11 victims, family members and the selfless 1st responders, for whom this attack will NEVER be in the past.
update3: zinn: 9/11 truth is for 'fanatics' & has 'no practical political significance' from steve watson: Just days after left-wing anti-war icon Howard Zinn told an audience that he didn’t care if 9/11 was an inside job, he has repeated the sentiment, stating that questions regarding the attacks have "no practical political significance" and that 9/11 truth activists are "fanatics" who are wasting their time... Such people can groan all they like when questions over 9/11 are raised, it doesn't change the fact that every single significant action the Bush administration has taken over the last seven years, every attack on freedom and crime against humanity that they have committed stems from the events of 9/11. Yes Mr Zinn, you have angered a great many politically minded people with your comments, but what do you expect when you state that you do not care about what really happened on the most historically significant day in our recent history, and in the lifetimes of many of us? Indeed, this is the key to Zinn's comments. To him, what really happened on 9/11 is not significant because it is HE who represents the past, it is HE who is wasting his time and it is HE who is politically insignificant.
