selection '08: mccain's evacuation, nader says hillary will be obama's vp & states abandoning touch screen voting

mccain offices evacuated over suspicious letters

mccain offices evacuated over suspicious lettersfrom washington times: Two of Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign offices were evacuated Thursday after receiving suspicious letters, one of which contained an unidentified white powder. A government official said a letter sent to the office of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee near Denver contained powder, but was being treated as a hoax and was thought to have been sent by an inmate at a nearby jail in Arapahoe County. A letter sent to the office in New Hampshire did not contain powder, but aroused suspicions of staffers who were jittery after the Denver-area office received its letter. Secret Service spokesman Eric Zahren said the two letters are unrelated. Despite the likelihood of a hoax, staffers at all the Arizona Republican's campaign offices nationwide were told not to open letters. "Let's be cautious and not open mail tomorrow unless we clearly know the source," according to a campaign e-mail that was sent to staff members and obtained by The Washington Times. "Let's see what comes of this."

nader says obama will pick hillary
nader says obama will pick hillaryfrom conservative pulse: According to the Politico, Ralph Nader is telling people that he fully expects that Barack Obama will name Hillary Clinton as his running-mate in the next few days. Nader suggests that Obama can’t really pick anyone else, as all other available choices are uninspiring empty suits. “I don’t think he’s that dumb,” said Nader, commenting on widespread speculation that Obama’s choices are down to Sens. Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, or Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine. The smart pick, according to Nader, is Hillary Rodham Clinton. Nader phoned into Politico Tuesday afternoon to offer his prediction that a surprise nod to Clinton is actually what Obama has in store—never mind the talk of mistrust between the Clintons and Obama. “He just has to swallow hard and do what JFK did” in picking rival Lyndon Johnson in 1960, said the liberal activist and maverick presidential candidate.

many states abandoning touch screen voting
from raw replay: CBS’ Tony Guida reported that as the U.S. prepares for the upcoming presidential election, many states are abandoning the electronic touch screen ballots that have caused significant problems in the past. Rep. Rush Holt said that one third of ballots cast will be unverifiable. This video is from CBS’ Evening News, broadcast August 17, 2008.

hillary's donors, diebold's failures, cfr's huckabee, obomba & his warmonger cabinet

hillary donor tied to mexican drug trade

hillary donor tied to mexican drug tradefrom judicial watch: An influential Democratic donor who has given Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign the federal limit and has been indicted for illegally practicing law, had his offices raided by authorities who say he launders money for Mexican drug cartels. Renowned in ritzy Corpus Christi circles, Mauricio Celis has for years been one of Texas’ most generous Democratic donors, but the millionaire businessman has been the center of an ongoing criminal investigation that involves his deep-rooted ties to Mexico’s lucrative drug-smuggling industry.

diebold failures found throughout new hampshire primary
diebold failures found throughout new hampshire primaryfrom brad blog: Early research into New Hampshire wards and towns which used Diebold's AccuVote Optical-Scan voting machines during last week's Primary reveals that chronic problems continue with the company's infamous paper-ballot voting machines. As well, the preliminary investigation reveals a great deal of confusion and conflicting information from local election clerks and a high-ranking official in the state Attorney General's office regarding protocols and security procedures for voting systems and memory cards, and how they are to be handled during Election Day failures.

paul beats rudy & fred, again
from los angeles times: Well, he's hanging in there. Not only that, but Rep. Ron Paul thumped two reputed Republican heavyweights in the Michigan primary - former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani... Paul's website and new campaign blog claim to have quietly organized more than 7,800 precinct captains around the country. Meantime, Giuliani's top staff is going unpaid this month to save dwindling funds. Is there a pattern here?

ron paul: the mysterious US candidate

from russia today: The lack of media coverage has turned Ron Paul into the ghost candidate in this race for the White House. And one can't help but wonder why the Texas Congressman doesn't get much air-time, despite all the hype? ... his supporters say it's not that Paul is not presidential material but that the American system no longer values freedom as much as it used to.

combined primary percentages put paul in 4th place
from lew rockwell: Here are the combined vote totals for IA, NH, and MI:
Romney - 443,139 Total Votes – 36.89%
McCain - 361,546 Total Votes – 30.10%
Huckabee - 207,308 Total Votes – 17.26%
Paul - 84,554 Total Votes – 7.04%
Giuliani - 50,925 Total Votes – 4.24%
Thompson - 49,198 Total Votes - 4.10%
Hunter - 4,567 Total Votes - 0.38%
Paul is in a solid fourth, increased his percentage lead over Giuliani by 300% in Michigan, and should stay in fourth through SC and NV, where Thompson and Giuliani will close the gap in each state. In other news, the latest CNN/Politico/LA Times California poll has Paul at 8%, with no candidate garnering more than 20% in the poll. The poll had a huge margin of error (6%), which makes Paul and four other candidates technically tied in the Golden State.

who do the kids of america want to be president?
from raw replay: Legendary newsperson Linda Ellerbee takes a closer at what the kids of America think about the 2008 presidential race. The following video is from Nickelodeon’s The Kids Primary, broadcast on January 13, 2008 (jump to the 13m mark for the ron paul segment)

kucinich decries general electric/media conspiracy
from las vegas sun: At 5:25 p.m., shortly after the Nevada Supreme Court Nevada Supreme Court: NBC vs Kucinich (262kb PDF) refused to give Dennis Kucinich a seat at the debate, a small band of his supporters marched to a far corner of a parking lot outside the Cashman Center, where supporters of the three major candidates had gathered. Spectators soon realized that Kucinich was among them. He said: The fact of the matter is, NBC is owned by General Electric. General Electric makes power plants. General Electric wants to make sure there is a place to dump the waste.”

US elections: just like the movies
US elections: just like the moviesfrom the peoples voice: The United States political process bears an uncanny resemblance to mainstream filmmaking. Elections and speeches are scripted to the letter, politicians put on a tirelessly rehearsed act, catering endlessly to the whims of the target audience. A successful Hollywood filmmaker can't afford to risk raising issues in a way that don't immediately reflect audience sympathies. Good politicians vying for votes are similar in that they speak according to the already existing expectations - and prejudices - of the voting public.

obama, brzezinski & aq khan
obama, brzezinski & aq khanfrom across the aisle: My fellow blogger David Isenberg noted below that Senator Obama should reject the advice of Zbigniew Brzezinski, President Carter’s national security adviser. The basis for David’s statement is the advice Brzezinski gave Carter in the 1970’s on U.S.-Pakistan relations. Brzezinski urged Carter to prioritize Pakistani assistance for U.S. efforts in Afghanistan over nuclear proliferation concerns.

revolution rolls on despite new hampshire chicanery

ron paul to appear in next fox news debate
from myrtle beach online: Following the New Hampshire primary, six Republican candidates will attend Thursday night's debate in Myrtle Beach, state party officials said today... Giuliani, Huckabee, McCain, Paul, Romney and Thompson... have all accepted their invitations, said Rob Godfrey, spokesman for the state Republican Party. "The stakes couldn't be higher this election, and we couldn't be more excited to extend a warm South Carolina welcome to six White House hopefuls who are seeking the Republican nomination," said Katon Dawson, chairman of the state GOP.

new hampshire district admits ron paul votes not counted
new hampshire district admits ron paul votes not countedfrom paul joseph watson: The head clerk of the New Hampshire town of Sutton has been forced to admit that Ron Paul received 31 votes yet when the final amount was transferred to a summary sheet and sent out to the media, the total was listed as zero. The fiasco throws the entire primary into doubt and could lead to a re-count. As we reported earlier today, an entire family voted for Ron Paul in Sutton, yet when the voting map on the Politico website was posted, the total votes for Ron Paul were zero.

vote fraud plagues nh primary
from rogue government: The New Hampshire voting results should not be considered credible in either the Republican or Democrat races. There is a great deal of circumstantial and hard evidence indicating vote fraud. The most glaring is the fact that 31 votes for Ron Paul were not counted in Sutton, NH.

from live leak: Caller from El Paso, TX calls regarding concerns over the digital machines used in the New Hampshire Primary.

clear evidence of widespread vote fraud in new hampshire
clear evidence of widespread vote fraud in new hampshirefrom paul joseph watson: There were several major vote fraud issues to arise out of the New Hampshire primary revolving mainly around Ron Paul and Barack Obama, who were both seemingly cheated out of third and first places respectively as a result of rigged Diebold voting machines and deliberate malfeasance in the counting of hand-written paper ballots.

before nh primary, ron paul makes the rounds

from raw replay: Jay Leno is joined by Congressman Ron Paul to discuss what a Ron Paul administration would look like. The following video is from NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno, broadcast on January 07, 2008.

leno frustrated with fox over paul exclusion
from gambling911: NBC Tonight Show host Jay Leno felt Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul got a raw deal from Fox News after he was excluded from their Sunday night debate. "He (Ron Paul) is tied with Rudy Giuliani in the state of New Hampshire according to polls. He's not an obscure candidate," said Leno, who believes that Fox News excluded Paul simply because they do not like his politics.

ron paul on cnn's late edition on jan6

from rogue government: A Brief Overview of Congressman Paul's Record:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against the Iraq war.

howard stern loves ron paul!
from eluminated: We need to convince Howard Stern to have Ron Paul as a guest! ... I have no doubt that Howard will support Paul 100% once he hears his full ideas on all the issues and so will his fans! Please contact the show at howardsterndotcom and urge Howard to follow his heart an extend an invitation to Dr. Paul!
