US author to unveil washington's masonic past

US author to unveil washington's masonic pastfrom afp: A sequel to the blockbuster thriller "The Da Vinci Code" is set to lift the veil on mysterious Freemason symbols carved into the very fabric of the historic streets and buildings of the US capital.

Novelist Dan Brown has set the new adventures of his hero, scholar-adventurer Robert Langdon, right in the heart of Washington, which could reveal some astonishing facts for history buffs.

Brown "had a contact with us but then cut it short. We are all sitting around waiting for his book to come out but nobody knows what he's going to say," Akram Elias, grand master-elect of Washington's Grand Lodge, told AFP.

According to the pre-publicity, the book - working title "The Solomon Key" - will feature Langdon hero of the mass-selling "The Da Vinci Code" and who was played by Tom Hanks in the hit film version.

"For the first time, Langdon will find himself embroiled in a mystery on US soil. This new novel explores the hidden history of our nation's capital," Brown wrote in a posting on his official website.

Washington has strong historic roots in Freemasonry - an old and widespread fraternity which traditionally practised secret rituals.

giuliani did business with sheikh tied to 9/11 plot

giuliani did business with sheikh tied to 9/11 plotfrom huffington post: Giuliani's bid for the GOP nomination may be on the verge of capsizing amidst a perfect storm of sex, money and terrorists. Links to terrorists, that is. Oy.

Ben Smith of Politico.com posted a story of Giuliani's shady financial records while mayor, but it is Wayne Barrett of The Village Voice with a devastating report about Giuliani's post-9/11 business dealings with a Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah al-Thani, a Qattari oil tycoon with well known ties to the 9/11 terrorists.

As usual, Barrett sums up the significance of the story for the Giuliani campaign:
In retrospect, Giuliani's embrace of the emir appears peculiar. But it was only a sign of bigger things to come: the launching of a cozy business relationship with terrorist-tolerant Qatar that is inconsistent with the core message of Giuliani's current presidential campaign, namely that his experience and toughness uniquely equip him to protect America from what he tauntingly calls "Islamic terrorists" - an enemy that he always portrays himself as ready to confront, and the Democrats as ready to accommodate.

The contradictory and stunning reality is that Giuliani Partners, the consulting company that has made Giuliani rich, feasts at the Qatar trough, doing business with the ministry run by the very member of the royal family identified in news and government reports as having concealed KSM - the terrorist mastermind who wired funds from Qatar to his nephew Ramzi Yousef prior to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, and who also sold the idea of a plane attack on the towers to Osama bin Laden - on his Qatar farm in the mid-1990s...

In other words, as incredible as it might seem, Rudy Giuliani - whose presidential candidacy is steeped in 9/11 iconography - has been doing business with a government agency run by the very man who made the attacks on 9/11 possible.

naomi wolf: US fascist coup owes legacy to bush

naomi wolf: US fascist coup owes legacy to bushfrom paul joseph watson: Author Naomi Wolf, who made headlines earlier this year after she identified the ten steps to fascism that were being followed to a tee by the Bush administration, spoke publicly for the first time yesterday about the origins of what we see unfolding today, Prescott Bush's attempt to launch a Nazi coup in 1930's America...

"A small group of people began very systematically to use the law and dismantle the Constitution and put pressure on citizens to subvert the law - and that opened the door for everything that followed," said Wolf.

alleged nazi guard appeals deportation

(hmm, there sure are alot of nazi stories in the news lately.
i should paperclip them all together & save them for an overcast day...)

alleged nazi guard appeals deportationfrom ap: A lawyer for a former autoworker accused of being a Nazi death camp guard on Thursday challenged the right of the nation's chief immigration judge to order his deportation.

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments on the accused guard John Demjanjuk's challenge to a final removal, or deportation, order issued in 2005. The federal government has been trying to deport him for three decades...

The arguments revolved around whether an immigration judge had the authority to order the removal of Demjanjuk, 87.

vast nazi archive opens to public

vast nazi archive opens to publicfrom ap: After more than 60 years, Nazi documents stored in a vast warehouse in Germany were unsealed Wednesday, opening a rich resource for Holocaust historians and for survivors to delve into their own tormented past.

The treasure of documents could open new avenues of study into the inner workings of Nazi persecution from the exploitation of slave labor to the conduct of medical experiments. The archive's managers planned a conference of scholars next year to map out its unexplored contents.

The files entrusted to the International Tracing Service, an arm of the International Committee of the Red Cross, have been used to find the fate of missing persons or document atrocities to support compensation claims. The U.S. government also has referred to the ITS for background checks on immigrants it suspected of lying about their past.

gop rivals tussle over immigration, the word & hitler

gop rivals tussle over immigration, the word & hitlerfrom raw story: Frequently using their YouTube-submitted questions as a jumping off place for attacks on rivals, the Republican presidential contenders took on a range of queries - from silly to serious - posed by ordinary Americans in Wednesday evening's GOP debate in St. Petersburg, FL...

As the evening's focus later shifted to government spending, libertarian-leaning candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) was asked if he could name three federal programs he would cut from the budget.

"I would like to change Washington and we could by cutting three programs such as the Department of Education...the Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security..." He then went on to critique US foreign policy. "And besides, what we can do is we can have a stronger national defense by changing our foreign policy. Our foreign policy is costing us a trillion dollars and we can spend most of that, or a lot of that money home if we would bring our troops home."

Sen. McCain responded to Paul's comments moments later. "I've heard him now in many debates talking about bringing out troops home, and about the war in Iraq and how it's failed. And I want to tell you," he said, facing Paul, "that kind of isolationism, sir, is what caused World War II... we allowed Hitler to come to power with that kind of attitude of isolationism and appeasement." McCain, who spent Thanksgiving in Iraq, told Paul that the troops' message was "let us win."

"The real question you have to ask is why do I get the most money from active-duty officers - military personnel," Paul responded. "I'm not an isolationist."

update: cnn polls show ron paul winner of debate
from black hills portal: The CNN/YouTube GOP presidential debate Wednesday night brought Republican jabs out in the open with Ron Paul showing a clear lead in CNN Polls. There is no doubt that presidential canidate Ron Paul isn't a polished public speaker as this debate brought to light, but what doctor or OB/GYN is. According to early numbers on the CNN website the clear winner to the YouTube GOP debate was Ron Paul.

army expands by lowering the bar on recruits

army expands by lowering the bar on recruitsfrom int'l herald tribune: Two weeks ago, the Pentagon announced the "good news" that the army had met its recruiting goal for October, the first month in a five-year plan to add 65,000 new soldiers to the ranks by 2012.

But Pentagon statistics show the army met that goal by accepting a higher percentage of enlistees with criminal records, drug or alcohol problems, or health conditions that would have ordinarily disqualified them from service.

In each fiscal year since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, statistics show, the army has accepted a growing percentage of recruits who do not meet its own minimum fitness standards. The October statistics show that at least 1 of every 5 recruits required a waiver to join the service, leading military analysts to conclude that the army is lowering standards more than it has in decades.

fdny being trained as homeland stasi

fdny being trained as homeland stasifrom telegraph: A scheme to train firefighters in major cities to look out for terrorists has raised fears that their iconic standing in American society could be damaged.

Unlike police, firemen and paramedics do not need warrants to get into homes and other buildings during technical inspections of emergency facilities, making them particularly useful for spotting signs of terrorist planning.

The Homeland Security Department has been secretly testing a pilot scheme in New York in which firefighters are trained to identify suspicious material or behaviour. If successful, the programme will be extended to other large cities.

However, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) says that using firemen to gather intelligence is a step toward limiting people's privacy.

Since the September 11 attacks, Americans have given up some of their privacy rights in an effort to prevent future strikes.

The government monitors telephone calls and emails, and there is much more thorough searching of belongings at airports.

alleged trainer of 9/11 hijackers a cia informant

sakka attempts to plug holes in 9/11 official story, claims hanjour did not pilot flight 77
alleged trainer of 9/11 hijackers a cia informantfrom paul joseph watson: The man who claims to have trained six of the 9/11 hijackers is a paid CIA informant according to Turkish intelligence specialists, who also assert that Al-Qaeda is merely the name of a secret service operation designed to foment a strategy of tension around the world.

In a London Times report, Louai al-Sakka, now incarcerated in a high-security Turkish prison 60 miles east of Istanbul, claims that he trained six of the 9/11 hijackers at a camp in the mountains near Istanbul from 1999-2000.

Sakka was imprisoned in 2005 after being caught making bombs that he planned to use to blow up Israeli vessels.

Sakka asserts that he is a leading Al-Qaeda operative, having directed insurgency attacks in Iraq and also the beheading of Briton Kenneth Bigley in October 2004...

"But, as with many things in the world of Al-Qaeda, there might be smoke and mirrors," reports the Times. "Some experts believe that Sakka could be overstating his importance to the group, possibly to lay a false track for western agencies investigating his terrorist colleagues."

suspicious s.i.t.e. to release another 'bin laden' tape

suspicious s.i.t.e. to release another 'bin laden' tapefrom wake up from your slumber:
Rita Katz and her staff of ONE at her Search for International Terrorists Entities (S.I.T.E.) announced on Monday, 11/26 to have knowledge of another Bin Laden message forthcoming, according to the Middle East Times.

One has to wonder what incarnation of Bin Laden Rita Katz and S.I.T.E. will dream up this time. Will BL still have his beard dyed? What version of BL will Rita Katz show to the public or will S.I.T.E. only release an audio tape?

The last release from "Bin Laden", courtesy of S.I.T.E., was around 9/11/07. About the same time the war criminals at large in the Bush/Cheney administration were trying to get more tax dollars for their SURGE plan.

One has to wonder what current events the Bush White House and its media arm known as S.I.T.E. are trying to distract the public from this time
?

Their good buddy in the Senate, Trent Lott, resigning suddenly? Or the crashing to the ground economy? Or the recent revelations about more Bush lies from the former WH Press Secretary, Scott McClellan?

Most likely, this latest BL tape from Rita Katz and S.I.T.E. is timed to influence or even disrupt the so-called "Summit" of ME nations at Annapolis. And will provide kindling for the next ME fire Bush and Cheney are wanting to start, this time in Iran.

Since Rita Katz and her staff of ONE at S.I.T.E., Josh Devon, do such a bang-up job of gathering intelligence that the combined spy agencies of the U.S. can't seem to do, even with their plus $50 BILLION dollars budget, we should just fire the CIA and NSA and let Rita Katz and S.I.T.E. take over intelligence gathering operations.

P.S. Try googling "As-Sahab" and see if you can find this site on the web. I can't. An interesting side note is that when you do goggle As-Sahab, you'll notice that there are only 91,700 hits???

That doesn't seem like many hits for a so-called world wide conspiracy that has followers with possible numbers in the millions.

controversial catholic bishop says 9/11 an inside job

controversial catholic bishop says 9/11 an inside jobfrom renew america/total411: Bishop Richard Williamson, seemingly the most outspoken and controversial bishop of the Society of St. Pius X, asserted in a recent talk that the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were committed "to get the American public to accept the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq," according to a news item by Jack Kenny in the Nov. 15, 2007 issue of The Wanderer.

Bishop Williamson, whose talk was held Nov. 4, 2007 in Bedford, Mass., is quoted as saying:
"Without 9/11, it would have been impossible to attack in Afghanistan or Iraq. The forces inside the United States government and driving the United States government absolutely wanted to attack and destroy Iraq. The destruction wrought upon Iraq is unspeakable. And now the same forces want to do the same thing to Iran... They may well be plotting another 9/11."

"Heat from the burning fuel of the planes that flew into the twin towers of the World Trade Center could not have melted the 47 steel columns in each tower, causing them to collapse, he claimed. And a commercial airliner could not have penetrated six of the ten walls that were breached by 'whatever hit the Pentagon,' he said."
What did hit the Pentagon, according to Bishop Williamson?
"It was a missile that hit the Pentagon. It was a missile that could only have been fired by the American military."
however, a comment posted to total411 brings up a interesting counterpoint:
A Roman Catholic bishop outing Bush's 9/11 treason is a "snake biting its own tail" for damage control: Bush, his family, and their Vatican-banker Rockefeller masters work for Rome and constitute the American Fifth Column.

Just as Rome used Prescott Bush to funnel money to the author of "I Paid Hitler," papal baron, and fellow Knight of Malta, Fritz "The Rockefeller of Germany" Thyssen, their CIA assassinated JFK, led by George H.W. Bush and Prescott Bush hireling Richard Nixon, six weeks after NSAM263 ordered our military withdrawal from Rome's latifundial estate of Vietnam, and after Exec. Ord. 11,110 had removed Rome's correspondent bankers in the Fed from control of our money supply.

daniel ellsberg's dire warning

daniel ellsberg's dire warningfrom thought criminal: Daniel Ellsberg, the former Defense Department analyst who leaked the secret Pentagon Papers history of the Vietnam War, offered insights into the looming attack on Iran and the loss of liberty in the United States at a recent American University symposium...
"Let me simplify ... and not just to be rhetorical: A coup has occurred. I woke up the other day realizing, coming out of sleep, that a coup has occurred. It’s not just a question that a coup lies ahead with the next 9/11. That’s the next coup that completes the first.

The last five years have seen a steady assault on every fundamental of our Constitution... what the rest of the world looked at for the last 200 years as a model and experiment to the rest of the world—in checks and balances, limited government, Bill of Rights, individual rights protected from majority infringement by the Congress, an independent judiciary, the possibility of impeachment.

There have been violations of these principles by many presidents before. Most of the specific things that Bush has done in the way of illegal surveillance and other matters were done under my boss Lyndon Johnson in the Vietnam War: the use of CIA, FBI, NSA against Americans."

gq picks ron paul as a 'man of the year 2007'

gq picks ron paul as a 'man of the year 2007'from abc: GQ magazine has chosen Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul as one of their "Men of the Year 2007."

Paul, 72, appears in GQ's December issue with GQ's other men of the year including Hollywood heavyweight Tom Hanks, hip-hop artist Kanye West, new James Bond actor Daniel Craig, actor Casey Affleck, baseball star Alex Rodriguez, and tennis ace Roger Federer.

Calling him the "Dark Horse of the Year," the Texas congressman is the only White House contender to make GQ's cut...
Washington sure seems like a town full of bullies sometimes. Along comes a 72-year-old physician from south Texas who weighs maybe 140 pounds with rocks in his pockets, whom most people, at the beginning of the year, couldn't have picked out of a two-person lineup, who took in barely enough first-quarter money to buy a fancy Italian car, who comes armed with ideas both misbegotten (Abolish the Fed!) and very much not (End this war! Stop indefinitely detaining human beings!), and what do the folks who run the Republican Party do? They try to silence him. The head of the Michigan Republicans calls for his removal from the debates. Rudy Giuliani attacks him for—what else?—insufficient patriotism. To witness this is to understand the fear Ron Paul has instilled in the GOP.

He has tapped into his party's silent minority, one that won't abide torture, reckless spending, or endless war. And his supporters (and admittedly, there are some real conspiracy-minded moonbats among them) have rewarded Paul for his courageousness, to the tune of more than $5 million in campaign contributions in the third quarter—about the same as John McCain has raised. It isn't a revolution, but Ron Paul's candidacy serves as a reminder that electoral politics needn't be a joyless march to a clothespin vote. It can be daring and kind of kooky, too.

military training program for teens expands in US

military training program for teens expands in USfrom afp: Dozens of teens dressed in uniforms provided by the US Marines stand at attention in the gym of a Chicago public high school as a drill sergeant goes through a list of the day's do's and don'ts.

Bring your books to class. Come for extra help if you need it. And wear your uniform with pride...

One in 10 public high school students in Chicago wears a military uniform to school and takes classes - including how to shoot a gun properly - from retired veterans.

That number is expected to rise as junior military reserve programs expand across the country now that a congressional cap of 3,500 units has been lifted from the nearly century-old scheme.

Proponents of the junior reserve programs say they provide stability and a sense of purpose for troubled youth and help to instill values such as leadership and responsibility.

But opponents say the programs divert critical resources from crumbling public schools and lead to a militarization of US society.

here's hoping mcclellan's book brings down bushfrom first post: Former White House spokesman Scott McClellan is ready to blow the lid off the Bush administration with an astonishing admission that not only did he lie for his masters, but was told to do so by President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Bush chief of staff Andrew Card, chief political adviser Karl Rove and Cheney's chief of staff Scooter Libby. That's a potential Royal Flush in terms of Washington scandal.

The allegation comes in an extract from a memoir McClellan is writing for the publisher PublicAffairs, and posted as a teaser on the publisher's website yesterday. "I had unknowingly passed along false information," McClellan writes. "And five of the highest-ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so."

ex-secret service agent reveals jfk plot in chicago

ex-secret service agent reveals jfk plot in chicagofrom raw story: Abraham Bolden, a former Secret Service agent, tells CNN that he knew of a plot to assassinate John F. Kennedy in Chicago several weeks beforehand. Bolden is writing a book about the alleged plot titled "The Echo from Dealey Plaza: The true story of the first African American on the White House Secret Service detail and his quest for justice after the assassination of JFK."

According to CNN, the agent said that "just before President Kennedy was to go to Chicago in early November 1963, the agency got an important tip. An employee of a boarding house had seen rifles with telescopic sites and an outline of Kennedy's motorcade route in a room rented by Cuban nationals."

However, CNN correspondent Brian Todd noted that Bolden, for unspecified reasons, "would not go on camera with us or do a phone interview," so they also spoke to Lamar Waldron, author of "Ultimate Sacrifice," who "told us what he believed happened to the suspected Cuban hit man."

"From all indications, the surveillance on the two men were - was blown somehow," Waldron said. "And so the two men were actually at large at the time that JFK was getting ready to leave Washington and come to Chicago."

Todd noted that "Kennedy's trip to Chicago was canceled," but that "it's not clear if it was because of a security threat."

"Contacted by CNN, the Secret Service would not comment on Abraham Bolden's claim, but did tell us he was separated from the agency in 1964 after being convicted of a crime," Todd added. "Published reports say Bolden was convicted of soliciting bribes from a counterfeiter, but that his accuser later recanted. Bolden claims he was framed."

police to deploy spy drones in texas

police to deploy spy drones in texasfrom danger room: An attempt by police in Texas to hold a secret test of spy drones was foiled by a local TV station, which tracked the unmanned aerial vehicles, forcing law enforcement officials to disclose some of their plans...

The best part of this story is that - in true spy vs. spy tradition - the local news station flew their own helicopter in pursuit of the unmanned aicraft.

"I wasn't ready to publicize this," Executive Assistant Police Chief Martha Montalvo told Local 2.

What would law enforcement use these drones for? Homeland security, catching criminals, and covert surveillance are all possibilities. It also turns out that speeding tickets could be high on the list...

britain plans flu shots for everyone

britain plans flu shots for everyonefrom ap: The government unveiled plans Thursday to provide vaccinations for the entire population in the advent of a flu pandemic.

Health Secretary Alan Johnson said a flu pandemic was "one of the most severe risks" facing the country, telling lawmakers that he had signed an agreement to secure the delivery of enough pandemic flu vaccines to cover every citizen.

Experts will formulate the vaccination once the strain of the virus has been identified. Officials said it was impossible to predict when the next pandemic would strike and what form it would take.

The last global flu pandemic - Hong Kong flu - struck in 1968, leading to approximately 1 million deaths worldwide and 80,000 in Britain, said a Department of Health spokeswoman, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with department policy.

"We don't believe an influenza is imminent," the spokeswoman said.

The World Health Organization recently praised Britain for its preparedness to tackle a global flu outbreak.

poll shows 62% believe US had 9/11 foreknowledge

poll shows 62% believe US had 9/11 foreknowledgefrom nypost: Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the federal government had warnings about 9/11 but decided to ignore them, a national survey found.

And that's not the only conspiracy theory with a huge number of true believers in the United States.

The poll found that more than one out of three Americans believe Washington is concealing the truth about UFOs and the Kennedy assassination - and most everyone is sure the rise in gas prices is one vast oil-industry conspiracy.

Sixty-two percent of those polled thought it was "very likely" or "somewhat likely" that federal officials turned a blind eye to specific warnings of the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

Only 30 percent said the 9/11 theory was "not likely," according to the Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll.

The findings followed a 2006 poll by the same researchers, who found that 36 percent of Americans believe federal government officials "either assisted in the 9/11 attacks or took no action" because they wanted "to go to war in the Middle East."

In that poll, 16 percent said the Twin Towers might have collapsed because of secretly planted explosives - not hijacked passenger jets flown into them.

And what hit the Pentagon? Twelve percent figured it was a US cruise missile.

Anger at the federal government and skepticism in general by younger Americans is fueling the popularity of crackpot conspiracy theories.

'the inevitable rise & liberation of niggy tardust!'

from second supper: Trent Reznor has produced a rap album. And it’s one of the most exciting things to come into hip-hop in years. Saul Williams, an incredibly talented singer, spoken word performer, and hip-hop artist, has joined forces with Emperor Nine Inch Nails to create a masterpiece which fuses together Williams’ vocal genius with Reznor’s musical brilliance. Electronic schizophrenia and bug-zapper guitars collide into stomping beats, and this album could easily stand on its own as a series of instrumentals. However, Williams adds an inimitable factor to the work, using the weight of his voice to turn these songs into introspections, accusations, and soaring triumphs. Even the cover of U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, while strongly faithful to the original’s structure, scratches at the song’s formula with Year Zero psychosis, leading to an unmistakable change of tide.

Like Radiohead, Williams and Reznor have moved around the usual record company route for releasing the album, and it is only available for download on niggytardust.com and various peer-to-peer sites. But however you find this album, find it. I can’t say this strongly enough. Niggy Tardust is one of the most intelligent, insightful, and powerful albums that you’ll hear in ages. If there is any hope left in hip-hop, and in music as a whole, it is on high within Saul Williams.

44th anniversary of a coup d'etat

44th anniversary of a coup d'etatfrom oregon truth alliance: On November 22, 1963, the United States of America had a military coup d'etat - an event that most people chose not to see (a society of "not see's").

President Kennedy was removed after changing his mind on the Cold War. He refused to invade Cuba during the Bay of Pigs debacle, refusing to start nuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis (even though his military advisers were demanding it), stopped atmospheric nuclear testing and began the process to withdraw troops from Vietnam.

In his farewell address to the nation, President Eisenhower warned that we should beware the unchecked power of the military-industrial complex. This speech is one of the greatest in American history, and prescient in understanding what was coming. Now, the future that Eisenhower warned about is the content of the daily news.

The removal of Kennedy (and later, of his brother on the threshold of his victory in the Presidential campaign) led to the escalation of the Vietnam war, Watergate, the 1980 "October Surprise," the Iran-Contra scandals, BCCI, the invasion of Panama, Desert Storm (1991 war on Iraq), allowing the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, Oklahoma City, the stolen election in Florida in 2000, 9/11 and the anthrax attacks on the Democrats and the media, the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and the stolen 2004 Presidential election (to cite a few of the many scandals since 1963).

If our society is going to shift course to use our resources for our survival - instead of military dominance - we will have to convert the military budget toward peaceful purposes. A key part of the understanding needed to shift course is an honest discussion of these events in Dallas - and how those events led to the permanent warfare national security state.

Perhaps the simplest question to understand who perpetrated the assassination of President Kennedy is to ask: Who had the power to change the motorcade route?
(the original route would not have passed next to the Book Depository nor the famous 'grassy knoll')

In the film JFK, the character played by Donald Sutherland (loosely based on Colonel Fletcher Prouty), states:
"That's the real question, isn't it - why? The how and the who is just scenery for the public. Oswald, Ruby, Cuba, the Mafia - keeps them guessing like some sort of parlor game. Prevents them from asking the most important question: Why was Kennedy killed? Who benefited? Who has the power to cover it up?"

jfk buff takes potshots at other assassination theories

jfk buff takes potshots at other assassination theoriesfrom home news tribune: Just as the date Sept. 11 will jar memories between now and the end of the 21st century, the date Nov. 22 still stirs memories for a generation old enough to have watched Ed Sullivan introduce the Beatles, Walter Cronkite give up on Vietnam and Nixon swear he was not a crook.

Our culture changed when it was reported that "shots were fired" in Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963. And we know where we were.

Every six years or so, the anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy falls on Thanksgiving. Nov. 22 is also Robert Groden's birthday. Today he will turn 62, and will spend much of today like the rest of his days, joining other conspiracy buffs near the grassy knoll, selling products that explain his version of the assassination.

"I work in Dealey Plaza every day," he explained.

Groden was living in the Fords section of Woodbridge, working as an industrial photographer, when his life was changed. He was working on an assignment with Life Magazine to examine the Zapruder film, the most famous home movie in history, which shows in gruesome detail the shots that killed Kennedy.

Groden has since written 11 books on the assassination, testified before the House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1978, and worked as a consultant on "JFK," the Oliver Stone movie. He has his own Web site, www.jfkmurder.com.

I met Groden when he came to the office of the News Tribune in Woodbridge to show the Zapruder film before it appeared on American television and met him again two years ago when my family visited Dealey Plaza. His theory: Oswald had plenty of help.

Groden does not cotton to those of us who believe the less-sexy theory, that Oswald acted alone.

This week the movie "Oswald's Ghost" was shown to a packed house at the Texas Theater in the Oak Hills section of Dallas, the theater where Oswald was arrested the day of the assassination. The movie, to be shown on PBS Jan. 14, explores the growth of the conspiracy industry, of people like Robert Groden.

Groden's review: "'Oswald's Ghost' is a horrible, horrible piece of crap."

When I mentioned the book by Vincent Bugliosi — the former Los Angeles County district attorney and author of books about O.J. Simpson and the Manson family — Groden dismissed Bugliosi with even stronger language. Allowing how the Bugliosi book, "Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy" is 1,612 pages long, Groden called it a "good doorstop."

"(Bugliosi) mentions me about 80 times and 79 references are inaccurate, and that's just me," said Groden.

Groden also dismisses the work of The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, located in the old Texas Book Depository. The museum allows tourists to sit in Oswald's sniper nest while giving no credence to conspiracy buffs, who have become an embarrassment to some in Dallas.

Jacquielynn Floyd, a columnist for the Dallas Morning News, wrote this week, "Too often, on Nov. 22, people have gone to Dealey Plaza in a genuine and respectful spirit of remembrance, and have found an embarrassing, exhibitionistic carnival... the date has become a high holy day for conspiracy cranks, a swap meet for oddballs to peddle their strange obsessions."

Groden acknowledges there are "goofballs who lay down on the X" that marks the spot on the roadway where the fatal shot was fired into the JFK motorcade. What he welcomes are the people with the serious questions, the people who, he said, "don't buy for a minute" the notion that Oswald acted alone.

Recently, he said, a woman from England, with tears in her eyes, hugged him and thanked him for his work.

I asked Groden about the cottage industry developing 9/11 conspiracy theories. Just as it's hard for many to accept that a lone punk killed Kennedy, others don't accept 9/11 as the work of 19 well-organized and motivated punks.

Groden, who said he used to work on the 96th floor of the south tower of the World Trade Center, said he has steered clear of 9/11 conspiracy buffs. Though he does encounter these buffs at Dealey Plaza, where he will spend his birthday today.

ford knew of cia coverup in kennedy assassination

ford knew of cia coverup in kennedy assassinationfrom raw story: Did the CIA orchestrate a cover-up in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy?

According to the publisher of a new book, who appeared on Fox News Wednesday morning, the last living words of former President Gerald Ford fingered the CIA in the orchestration a cover-up of Kennedy's assassination.

Ford, who died late last year, was the longest surviving member of the Warren Commission, which investigated Kennedy's assassination. The new book, "A Presidential Legacy and the Warren Commission," was written by Ford before his death, its publisher claims.

"This book, actually authored by Gerald Ford, finally proves once and for all that the CIA, our government, did destroy documents and cover-up many facts that day in Dallas," publisher Tim Miller told Fox & Friends Wednesday morning.

Kennedy was killed as his motorcade rolled through downtown Dallas Nov. 22, 1963. Officially seen as the work of a single shooter, Lee Harvey Oswald, the Kennedy assassination has sparked myriad conspiracy theories placing responsibility for the assassination on a variety of suspects, including the CIA, the Mafia or Cuban President Fidel Castro.

Although Miller was given little time to go into detail about the book on Wednesday morning's show, a press release gives more detail on the book, being published by Flat Signed publishers.

In the book, Ford argues that the CIA destroyed information about the assassination, but he "contends with interesting specificity that Oswald was the only shooter," Miller says.

"There was a conspiracy to kill John F. Kennedy," says Tim Miller, CEO of FlatSigned.com, in the release. "There is no doubt that President Gerald Ford knew more about the JFK death. There is no doubt President Clinton knows more. Has he or any other US President since November 22, 1963 ever swore under oath that they know no more?"

This video is from Fox's Fox & Friend's, broadcast on November 21.

poland has 2nd thoughts about US missile defence

poland has 2nd thoughts about US missile defencefrom canadian press: Poland is reconsidering it's participation in Washington's European-based missile defence system.

Defence Minister Bogdan Klich says he wants to ensure the missile system serves Poland's interests. Klich's comments underlined the shift in thinking under the new pro-business government that took office Friday.

There is anxiety in Poland that Warsaw could further strain its already shaky ties with Moscow by agreeing to allow U.S. interceptor missiles on its territory.

Other Polish leaders, including new Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, have warned against provoking Russia without being sure that Washington offers compensating benefits.

The United States insists the interceptors are aimed at countering an alleged Iranian missile threat. Moscow scoffs at that, saying that plan undermines Russia's nuclear deterrent.
