The Marines are talking with at least six districts — including in suburban Atlanta, New Orleans and Las Vegas — about opening schools where every student wears a uniform, participates in Junior ROTC and takes military classes, said Bill McHenry, who runs the Junior ROTC program for the Marines. Those schools would be on top of more than a dozen public military academies that have already opened nationwide, a trend that's picking up speed as the U.S. Department of Defense looks for ways to increase the number of units in Junior ROTC, which stands for Reserve Officers Training Corps. "Many kids in our country don't get a fair shake. Many kids live in war zones. Many kids who are bright and have so much potential and so much to offer, all they need to be given is a chance," McHenry said. "If you look at stats, what we're doing now isn't working."

It also served to strengthen the threats of martial law that Congressman Brad Sherman reported the White House making to Congress members in order to win their support for the $780 billion give-away to Wall Street. Warner sent back the following note, proposing that, rather than changing the president's behavior to comply with the law, we should -- as with warrantless spying, habeas corpus, etc. -- change the law to comply with the president's behavior.
police prepare for unrest from the hill: Police departments in cities across the country are beefing up their ranks for Election Day, preparing for possible civil unrest and riots after the historic presidential contest. Public safety officials said in interviews with The Hill that the election, which will end with either the nation’s first black president or its first female vice president, demanded a stronger police presence. Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue in cities with large black populations. Others based the need for enhanced patrols on past riots in urban areas (following professional sports events) and also on Internet rumors. Democratic strategists and advocates for black voters say they understand officers wanting to keep the peace, but caution that excessive police presence could intimidate voters.

A spokesperson for the Camden County Sheriff's Office tells WAVY.com that they received a call at 5:39 a.m. in reference to a shooting incident. Camden Deputies found 45-year-old Frank Crank, suffering from a gunshot wound... K-9 units from Elizabeth City Police and the Currituck Co. Sheriff's Office responded. Blackwater was called to assist in the search with a helicopter.

A slimmed-down version of the Active Denial System (ADS) is sought for deployment in the 'homeland'. According to Aviation Week: "Raytheon is kicking off a U.S. Army program to mount Joint Silent Guardian non-lethal, directed energy weapons--with a range of more than 250 meters - on Ford 550 commercial trucks for crowd control." Aviation Week also reports "the program is expected to be awarded by year's end. A year after the contract is signed, the combination vehicle/weapons will start be fielded at the rate of one per month." With the American automative industry in a death-spiral as a result of capital's historic credit crunch, what better means to "rescue" the industry than buying a fleet of Ford 550's for "crowd control." Particularly handy for deployment in American cities should "rioters" object to a stolen presidential election or the state moves to terminate what little is left of the social "safety net" (in the interest of kick-starting the "recovery," of course) Silent Guardian is a product whose time has come!
atlanta cops roll out swat apc from infowars: It’s no big deal, insists the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It’s just the local cops with a $500,000 APC. For you civilians, that’s Armored Personnel Carrier. “Don’t be surprised to see an Army tank rolling down a street near you,” chides the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The Cobb County police department has refurbished a donated Armored Personnel Carrier for officers to use in SWAT situations.” Apparently, the cops think those on the receiving end of any SWAT operation using this military vehicle are armed to the teeth like the resistance in Iraq or maybe the Taliban in Afghanistan. It certainly is not needed for busting the average dope dealer, even one hopped up on PCP.

Well, apparently the Government is expecting a half million people to die relatively soon, and the Atlanta Airport is a major airline traffic hub, probably the biggest in the country, which means Georgia is a prime base to conduct military operations and coordination. It is also the home of the CDC, the Center for Disease Control. I don’t want to alarm anyone, but usually you don’t buy 500,000 plastic coffins "just in case something happens," you buy them because you know something is going to happen. These air tight seal containers would be perfect to bury victims of plague or biological warfare in, wouldn’t they?
Leslie Adgar, 42, of Decatur, Andre Mays, 24, of Atlanta, and Jon Patton, 44, of Lawrenceville, pleaded guilty to smuggling cocaine and heroin.
Patton and Mays were Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security guards working at Hartsfield-Jackson. Adgar worked for Delta Air Lines. Federal prosecutors said the trio was arrested after helping an undercover Drug Enforcement Agency officer ship drugs from Atlanta to New York.
