The goal of his visit is reportedly to try and gain popularity among the Jewish community in the United States.

Tzipi Livni is to meet with senior US officials including Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, her office said in a statement on Sunday. Livni would confer with US officials on the peace process, the situation in the Gaza Strip, Tehran's nuclear activities and other regional issues, the statement added.

About three months ago, a federal grand jury issued a subpoena against him, ordering Risen to give evidence in court.
