from abc news online: Members of the European Parliament have urged European governments to come clean about secret prisons run on their territory by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
The pressure comes in the wake of an acknowledgment by US president George W Bush that such prisons do exist, and have been used to interrogate terrorist suspects.
One of the MPs at the forefront of the European Parliament's investigation into the prisons, Sarah Ludford, says European governments that have denied their existence now look ridiculous.
"I think what has happened with this statement by George Bush, I think it's rather pulled the rug out from under the wall of silence by European governments and it makes them look either fools or liars really," she said.
wow, things are pretty bad when bush can make other governments look like "fools or liars"...
