from wjac tv: Ever wonder what happens to items confiscated by airport security screeners?
In Pennsylvania, the items are stored in a warehouse outside of Harrisburg then sold on Ebay.
Officials said the list of seized items includes everything from dumbbells to chainsaws. Among the interested buyers are school districts, charities and even municipalities.
One Johnstown-area police chief said that's how his department got laptop computers.
Ferndale Police Chief Art Boring said, "It works out real well for the department because we have all this stuff and it's a better price than we'd pay brand-new. And it's really good stuff -- it still has some life in it."
All of the money raised through the sales goes into the state's general fund.
