selection 08: jesus endorses obama, or: coke vs pepsi, you decide!

it's nauseating to watch everyone salivate over who's endorsing the obamessiah, as if it's some big bold & daring stance. oooh, way to pick 1 thing over the other in a field of 2! of course, there's only 2 puppets in the phony left/right paradigm, but there were/are tons of other candidates. now if powell & the post had endorsed ron hobbs or santa claus, then that would be bold & daring. (but it still wouldn't make a goddamn difference)

sir powell's lies about iraq & obama
sir powell's lies about iraq & obamafrom webster tarpley: Colin Powell, who five years ago deliberately lied to the UN Security Council about non-existent weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, now craves public attention for his endorsement of the totalitarian demagogue Obama. Powell is promising national rebirth under Obama, the evident darling of the ruling financier elite. Does Sir Colin (who was knighted by the Queen of England for his services in killing Arabs) still believe in Saddam’s WMDs? It looks like the same people who brought us the catastrophic Iraq war are determined to install Obama in the White House. Powell is one of the most pompous and monumental failures in American public life. He has played a leading role in every US policy debacle of the last half-century, including Vietnam, the Iraq-Kuwait war, and now the Iraq war. He also served as a helper to Frank Carlucci in suppressing the White House evidence that would have sent Bush the elder to the federal pen as a result of Iran-contra gun running and drug running twenty years ago. Powell is known to get his marching orders from an intelligence network that stretches from the CIA to the Pentagon, and which includes such unsavory figures as Richard Armitage (the man who outed Valerie Plame), who is probably still Powell’s best friend. Powell has brought this country many disasters, and he now wants to bring us a truly incalculable one – a seizure of power by the totalitarian trio of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.

biden’s admonition: plebs to suffer if obama is elected
from kurt nimmo: In a striking moment of candor, Joe Biden tells us would-be president Obama will face “an international crisis within his first six months in power and he will need supporters to stand by him as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular, decisions,” Matthew Jaffe reports on ABC News’ Political Radar blog. Speaking at a Seattle fundraiser, Biden said this “test” would likely unfold in the Middle East or Russia. It would likely be coupled with the economy.

more wv voters say machines are switching votes
from charleston gazette: Three Putnam County voters say electronic voting machines changed their votes from Democrats to Republicans when they cast early ballots last week. This is the second West Virginia county where voters have reported this problem. Last week, three voters in Jackson County told The Charleston Gazette their electronic vote for "Barack Obama" kept flipping to "John McCain".

In both counties, Republicans are responsible for overseeing elections. Both county clerks said the problem is isolated. They also blamed voters for not being more careful. "People make mistakes more than machines," said Jackson County Clerk Jeff Waybright.

Shelba Ketchum, a 69-year-old nurse retired from Thomas Memorial Hospital, described what happened Friday at the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield.

"I pushed buttons and they all came up Republican," she said. "I hit Obama and it switched to McCain. I am really concerned about that. If McCain wins, there was something wrong with the machines... I asked them for a printout of my votes," Ketchum said. "But they said it was in the machine and I could not get it. I did not feel right when I left the courthouse. My son felt the same way."

1000s face mixups in voter registrations
from washington post: Thousands of voters across the country must reestablish their eligibility in the next three weeks in order for their votes to count on Nov. 4, a result of new state registration systems that are incorrectly rejecting them. The challenges have led to a dozen lawsuits, testy arguments among state officials and escalating partisan battles. Because many voters may not know that their names have been flagged, eligibility questions could cause added confusion on Election Day, beyond the delays that may come with a huge turnout. The scramble to verify voter registrations is happening as states switch from locally managed lists of voters to statewide databases, a change required by federal law and hailed by many as a more efficient and accurate way to keep lists up to date. But in the transition, the systems are questioning the registrations of many voters when discrepancies surface between their registration information and other official records, often because of errors outside voters' control. The issue made its way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which yesterday blocked a challenge to 200,000 Ohio voters whose registration data conflicted with other state records.

obamessiah rally draws 100,000 in missouri
from wsj: Barack Obama attracted 100,000 people at a Saturday rally here, his biggest crowd ever at a U.S. event. The crowd assembled under the Gateway Arch on a sunny Saturday afternoon to hear Obama speak about taxes and slam the Republicans on economic issues. Lt. Samuel Dotson of the St. Louis Police Department confirmed the number of attendees piled into the grassy lawn by the Mississippi River. To be sure, big crowds don’t always signal a big turnout on Election Day. But Obama’s ability to draw his largest audience yet in a typically red state that just weeks ago looked out of reach, could signal a changing electoral map.

who put hate in my sunday paper?
from palestine thinktank: Something strange has been showing up inside the Sunday newspapers of millions of Americans the past few weeks. The material being included alongside comics, coupons, and advertisement for local stores is a controversial DVD called “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West.” ... The copies were distributed not randomly across the country, but in the “swing states” (Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado, etc.) that are seen as a toss-up in the November Presidential elections between McCain and Obama... The “facts” presented by Obsession have already been refuted in several detailed presentations. For example, see the work of Obsessionwithhate.com and that of Sheila Musaji, as well as Altmuslim.com. Therefore, I am not going to make a point by point refutation of the contents of the DVD. My intention is to explore the networks that are behind the production and distribution of this DVD, with their clear goal of influencing the 2008 Presidential elections towards John McCain... The Israeli paper Haaretz noted that the Obsession DVD “has a largely Jewish and pro-Israel distribution network, though Shore is trying to expand the film’s appeal.” As we shall see, this he accomplished by reaching out to Neoconservatives and Christian Zionists... According the New York Times, when Shore and Co. could not find any traditional distributor for their propaganda, they formulated a strategy of working with Neo-Conservative organizations like Heritage, College Republicans, and above all, Jewish organizations. NPR has reported that an organization called Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET), is also responsible for distribution of the Obsession DVD.

obamccain swap accusations of voter fraud
from afp: John McCain and Barack Obama's campaigns swapped accusations of rampant and widespread voter fraud Friday as legal battles over who ought be allowed to cast a ballot ensnared the race to the White House. An estimated nine million new voters have registered for the hotly contested November 4 election, and the Obama campaign says Democratic registrations are outpacing Republican ones by four to one.

mccain calls jfk's assassination an 'intervention'
from youtube: From the final presidential debate of the campaign. terrifying during the debate was the moment when John McCain was comparing himself and Obama to Goldwater and Jack Kennedy when he described JFK's assassination as something like this: "the intervention..." (eyes open wide, eyebrows high, grabs nose) "...err tragedy in Dallas..." Of course it was an intervention– in economic terms it would be a “correction” from the point of view of the continuing government, to replace the errant president. “Interventionis a well known C.I.A. term for an assassination operation, and also commonly phrased in terms of military interventions.

hypothetically speaking ...
from winter patriot: IF an "election" takes place next month as planned, and IF Barack Obama leads in the polls before the "election", and IF huge numbers of Democratic-leaning voters are illegally barred from voting, and IF exit polls show Obama winning anyway, and IF John McCain then gets "elected" "president" ...

THEN what do you think Obama will do about it?

A) The same thing as Al Gore?, or
B) The same thing as John Kerry?

if elected obama will declare co2 a 'dangerous pollutant'
if elected obama will declare co2 a 'dangerous pollutant'from kurt nimmo: In an interview with Bloomberg’s Jim Efstathiou Jr., Barack Obama’s energy adviser, Jason Grumet, said if elected Obama will classify carbon dioxide as a dangerous pollutant. Obama will tell the Environmental Protection Agency that it may use the 1990 Clean Air Act to set emissions limits, according to Grumet, and he will likely do this immediately upon taking office, David Bookbinder, chief climate counsel for the Sierra Club told Bloomberg... A global carbon tax is not so much about limiting CO2 as it is a scheme designed to pay for world government and corporate globalization. “The Climate Change Control Bill strongly supported by Obama calls for an international governing regime to monitor and regulate carbon dioxide and ‘carbon footprints’ from discovery, to production, to consumption at a cost of $50 trillion globally and at a cost of $8 trillion for US taxpayers, all to be paid for by a global tax, whose monies will be used to establish a world government body,” writes Patrick Briley.

trump: pelosi should have impeached bush
from business & media: Financial legend Donald Trump, in an interview by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on the Oct. 15 “The Situation Room,” expressed his disappointment House Speaker Nancy Pelosi didn’t move to impeach President George W. Bush. “[I] was surprised that she didn’t do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush,” Trump said. “It was almost – it just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office – which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing.”

bush ‘relieved’ his presidency is almost over
from thinkprogress: Despite an economic crisis shaking the country, President Bush has reportedly been very “relaxed.” Former Missouri senator John C. Danforth was at a fundraiser with Bush last week and said that the President “seemed relieved” his presidency was nearly over. “[He] looked as though he was about to shed this burden of the presidency. … I took it as though, ‘I’ve done the best I can, I think I made the right decisions and now it’s almost over,’” said Danforth. The New York Times also reports that “Bush has been telling people privately that it’s a good thing he’s in charge” during the country’s rough times because he has “a good group of people in D.C. working for him.”

Update: AP reports that under Bush, "U.S. clout in what it once considered its backyard has sunk to perhaps the lowest point in decades. As Washington turned its attention to the Middle East, Latin America swung to the left and other powers moved in."
